VentureBeat has a really good article
Great read, on the tech side of things.
May actually upgrade, I don't think I mind selling my PS4 and getting a Pro while also keeping my XB1S.

But most of the games the company showed were not rendering a native 4K image. Instead, you were probably seeing something closer to 1440p or 1800p. That’s quite a lot less detail than 2160p — although, for the Sony’s new supersystem, it doesn’t matter.
The PS4 Pro does not have the horsepower to render native 4K. Developers are already admitting that. So if PS4 isn’t rendering native 4K images, then what is it doing? Magic!
“It’s not native 4K. But as you see for yourself, it’s perceptively so close that you wouldn’t be able to see the difference.”
“With PS4 Pro, our strategy has instead been to foster streamlined rendering techniques that can take advantage of custom hardware,” he said. “When coupled with best-in-breed temporal and spatial anti-aliasing algorithms, the results can be astonishing.”
When we decode Cerny’s high-elven language, we can break down some of what is happening (with some help from the smart folks over at Digital Foundry).
The “streamlined rendering techniques” likely refers to a special feature built into the AMD Radeon graphics processor of the Pro where games only have to render approximately half of the pixels of standard 4K. That’s still around 4 million individual pixels, which is twice what you get from a native 1080p image — hence the need for a more powerful CPU and GPU in the Pro.
Those 4 million pixels are arranged into a 4K checkerboard pattern where half the checkerboard squares contain image data and the empty half contain nothing. The Pro should then use an algorithm to rebuild the image and fill in the empty squares for a 4K screen. Now, this technique would typically generate jagged edges and ugly artifacts whenever objects are in motion, but that’s where the temporal antialiasing comes in. That technique should smooth out any roughness and give the final image that crisp, ultra-high-definition look.
And I think that Sony deserves credit for the early results. VentureBeat editor Harrison Weber saw the Pro running its games in person. He told me that the difference was stark when Sony reps would run him through a demo and turn 4K and HDR on and off. Even in the videos that Sony uploaded to sites like YouTube, you can see some of the threads in Spider-Man’s suit in 4K — although YouTube’s compression algorithm definitely eats a lot of the finer details.
So instead of trying to quadruple the resolution, Sony is going to double or maybe triple it, and then it’s going to let algorithms and the shortcomings of 20/20 vision do the rest.

PS4 Pro is worth it just for performance in current games. Madden runs like dogshtt. Tons of dropped frames makes you feel like someone with tourettes.

Get whatever system you want, madden will still suck

Figures. Anyway, HDR TVs aren't *that* expensive. Plenty under $2K to find, but I know that doesn't fit tconle's narrative.
Since I was already gonna grab a PS VR, an upgrade to Pro is a no-brainer. I just traded in my OG to gamestop yesterday for $125 credit and pre-ordered the Pro. $275 upgrade is dirt cheap considering I just spent $1,300 upgrading my PC.

I don't find under 2k to be cheap

That means you built a new one, right?

Pretty much. New motherboard, new memory, new GPU, new heatsink/cooler, replaced SSD. I was kinda like Forrest Gump when he kept running. "Well, I'm replacing the motherboard, so I might as well replace this, too."

I would imagine the sales this fall will be quite good on 4K sets, should be able to grab a solid 4K 10bit HDR TV at 60" or larger for around $1500.
Vizio P and M series, Samsung KS series, are your best buys.
You can get the 65" Samsung KS8000 for $1799 right now at best buy, which is a pretty big sale price. Come Holiday season I bet it gets down to $1500 and at that point the value for price/performance is absurd.

Haven't seen anything, maybe Gamestop will do their own trade in thing, otherwise sell original on craigslist/ebay/wherever and go buy Pro. What I plan on doing, think my brother may buy mine luckily.

Didn't a developer say that you will have to pay for the upgrades in graphics?

No, all pro upgrades are free.

Tomorrow, PS4's get the HDR firmware update. Can someone help me out...I know it means high dynamic range, but what does that do for me? What does it mean? I have a 1080p HDTV. Will I notice anything different?
Posted on 9/12/16 at 2:36 pm to The Sad Banana
Your TV has to have hdr capability so probably not.
Posted on 9/12/16 at 2:52 pm to Mr Gardoki
Okay, and on the game's end...it has to be formatted for it, right?

I admit I'm potato on some of the specs, but a Samsung 4K Ultra HD HU8550 Series TV at 60" is less than $1,200 on Amazon.
Sounds like what the playstation.blog recommended. That's cheaper than the last 60" TV I bought.
60 inch here for 950 on amazon. LINK
You can also buy from Samsung for 999.
Obviously it is not the KS8000 model but still a great value and supports HDR.
