Forgive my ignorance, but isn't this a little underwhelming considering what we've been hearing about Scorpio?

It is but nobody even knows when the Scorpio will come out. Best guess is maybe 2017 holiday? You can get this next month. Also don't know the price point.

We will see how they compare when Sony releases specs.

And is PlayStation going to come out with something even better than Scorpio in 2018?

I doubt it. The next step is probably PS5.

How often am I going to have to purchase a console now?

Don't buy it if you don't want to drop the money. All ps4 games can still be played on the slim(standard)

How can the pro come out in less than a month send they not mention specs or anything at this event?

Did they show it?

Yes they showed it.

Because the show just ended. They will have all of that out by the end of the day I am sure.

Here taken straight from the video screen at the show.

The Pro is coming out on November 10.

If this doesn't have a UHD BLURAY drive that's really disappointing.

I just realized this is for the pro and not the slim. That's shocking. I'm a bit surprised the slim isn't going to have a 4k player but can't believe the pro wont

Appearances aren't a big deal but I dislike both versions there. The pro is awful.

The ps4 looked great this seems a step backwards

Just catching up on details, what a disappointment

Why is everyone disappointed? Will it make games look noticeably better?

4K gaming is great but it isn't something that is game changing, for me at least. 4K Blu-ray capabilities is what I was excited for and it doesn't have that.

How do you say something is being upgraded for 4K and not even have something inside it that can play 4K media? That's stupid.

This is a $400 machine...it's not going to be able to render images natively at 4K - games will still be upscaled.

No thanks. If you're going to throw your money away for 4K then get the Scorpio; you're paying $400 for upscaled games with this. Total sham.

What?

They speak to upgraded GPU. What are the specs?

They already said multi-player games will have the same frame rate too so everyone will be on an even playing field? So what does this do?

im assuming the specs that were leaked are legit, that's why they didn't release them. But if people are that worried about them they should invest in a PC instead of paying $400 for upgraded graphics. You could say that it appeals to people who don't own a ps4, but most of those people will just buy the slim at $299.

There is no chance a $400 machine can play games in 4k. I don't even have to see the specs to know that. There is a reason Microsoft started tweeting about Scorpio after the conference. They know it bitch slaps the pro in power even without details.

So what does this do?

Um what? It can still show improved visuals with the same FPS though. That is what it's goal is.

It is a improvement in hardware and will upscale games to 4k. You can also stream 4k movies and shows.

And In single player games like FF15 or Witcher, those developers can increase performance.
