Built my first CPU this weekend as well.

Please do not call your rig a "CPU".

Yes it is a "Centralized Processing Unit" but CPU is much more specific.

Enjoy your build!

caselabs is going to be my next case whenever I want to take watercooling seriously.

SM8 is awesome, you would love it. Think I will try out an Haswell build in the SM3 when they both drop.

You think your fractal is nice.. wait until you start working in a CaseLabs.

thanks bud, oh btw i lurk the shite out of your posts and ive did alot of research based on your opinions. thanks for posting.

MR G- im still deployed, but i have the list pretty much compiled. i went back and forth for ahwile between that amd black edition cpu and the i7 3820. i was going to cut back on the cost of the cpu and add a third 7950. but i figure 2 and the i7 will be well overkill for what i will do.

im just really concerned for the case. there is some silly shite out there and i dont know any better.

Do NOT run 3x 7950 on an AMD/1155 mobo.

I would definitely go with the 3820 and xfire 7950

You'll be far better off in a multi card setup with an X79 motherboard.

You'll be very limited in pci bandwidth with the Z77 boards, and I think its worse on the amd mobos.

He should be good if he gets a good OC. The ASUS Maximus Extreme has 4 good lanes.

3770Ks can handle it, they are just a lack of MOBOs out there in the 1155 socket. Like maybe what, 3-4? Gigabyte and ASUS each make 1.. the other might be ASRock? IDK.

None the less like blue said, go 2011 socket if you PLAN on purchasing TriFires from the start.

Actually just purchased a backdrop so I can have some good pictures of my SM8 when it is done.

All I have in it right now is a 2 x 360 AlphaCool Nexus RADs, 2 x D5s with EK tops, 1 x EK 250 X3, 9 x Cosair SP120 fans on the RADs and a new Lamptron controller.

Waiting for my 2nd Titan to come in along with my Corsair AX1200i before I even put my MPower in it.

So nothing really going on with it. It has been sitting on the floor for 3 weeks maybe. Just installed the Lamptron last weekend but waiting for all WBs and Backplates for the new GPUs. I never wanted to do a "partial" build then had to break the loop later.
