That was some of the shittiest audio editing I've ever seen in a video game ever. God damn it's horrible

I'm right around there. I just did the dungeon where you get the new car headlights and fight Jormundgandr. It was an awesome dungeon.

Ok, biggest gripe I have with this game is the dungeons have no check points. I was working on pitious ruins or whatever the platformer dungeon I'd and had to take a break midway through. Can't save and come back to the game glitching where I have audio but no video.

Put me in the "ending ruined the story" category... Mostly because of bad writing that should have been scrapped and not allowed in the final cut.

I think this is one of the better endings in the franchise.

The aspect of the ending was one of the best in memory - it's the entire lead-up to the ending that was horrible. They were creating this perfect story, with a perfectly world... and then just "BOOM" they decided to shite on it with 2 extremely horrible ideas.

**SPOILERS for the Ending**

1) We had grown so close to Ignis, Prompt, and Glad through the hours and hours of combat, dialogue, etc. - and then, like the horrible writing this game loved to do, Specs just randomly loses his eyesight off scene like "woops, sorry about that, we just didn't want him to see anymore to create more conflict with the group". frick you writers, Specs was the most likeable character of the 3 and your right hand man... and he doesn't even get fricking redemption for his eyesight BECAUSE HE LOST IT OFF SCREEN, frick you writers. Which btw never comes back, it's horrible writing, at least show him rescuing like 20 civilians and gets hit by the Empire's ballistics or something while saving them... it's just thrown in for no reason and dumb.

2) You know all of these Empire assholes you've been running after the whole game? Pfft, well frick you if you wanted any kind of revenge for what they did to your city / people, CAUSE WE GONNA KILL THEM OFF SCREEN AS WELL!!! Woohoo! Off screen shite is the worst, and this game had a big trend to use it to the extreme... just stupid. We get no revenge for Insomnia, or all the people in Insomnia... cause the big bad guy is all we are going to focus on now!! Just go on and forget them... well, you know, here's them mindless, already dead, and out of control after being turned into deamons.. that'll appease that feeling you have.... RIGHT?!?! Well it better be, cause we know better than you do as the writers of this game

3) 10 Years - like, wtf, 10 years... why?!?! The amount of time it would have taken for the Crystal to fully merge itself with Noct was arbitrary. So instead the writers, in their ever loving fricking minds decide "We want to see what the characters would look like 10 years from now" - and I swear they built the entire last chapter off of this single concept. Let's just ignore that we have gotten close to multiple people in the world around us - that even though it's been war torn for thousands of years... it's still a pretty nice place, with nice people, and people with hopes and dreams... but you know, we want to see the main characters 10 years older, so let's just frick over the entire world, push it into darkness with 0 daylight... and on top of that throw monsters into this world continuously - so basically anyone that isn't a Hunter is now dead.... YAY. It's basically the world of the Walking Dead... but instead of slow moving zombies, you have extremely powerful beings that could kill anyone in a split second, come from the ground. -- Side note: they were so happy with themselves about the story... but pro-tip, even the hunters would have been dead after 10 years - the daemons would have killed all wildlife (you actually see this once you spawn in 10 years later... all that is left is daemons) - they would have all starved around year 1.... horrible fricking writing

4) Don't even get me started on the shite our main cast would have had to go through without the king around for 10 years, the hopelessness etc. and all of this for something that didn't even have to happen. It's like there was a concept of "hey, we need to make them 10 years older, it would be soo cool" - when the crystal merge could have taken 6 months, maybe even a year, the world would have still been horrible, lots of people would have still died... but there would still be more hope.

P.S: The 10 Year thing is another example of "shite going down off screen" - it's horrible / poor writing, and it does nothing but piss me off when I see it in TV, Movies, or Games, it's lazy, it's dumb, and it's not needed. Dollhouse was going to do this same thing (the tv show) - and it ended up being the only Joss Whedon show I still do not like to this day.

ETA: That being said, the concept of the King (Noct) being pruned to be the chosen one, with the death of the Oracle, with the death of his father, with everything leading to it, and him realizing in order to kill Ardyn he had to purge Ardyn's soul after dying himself.... that was amazing, extremely well thought out - and one of the best, thoroughly thought out endings in a Final Fantasy game - but unfortunately this game wasn't about the main story, it was about your relationship with the world around you, and Ignis, Prompto, and Glad

First off, Ignis is and always will be a LITTLE BITCH compared to Gladio.

Second off, it's been clear and known since day one that Ignis losing his vision and Gladio going off on his own will be DLC episodes.

So quit your bitching about something that has been known for weeks.

The ending was great, IMO. I had the feels and almost every one else I know that's played and went in with an open mind instead of knowing they'd hate it from the get go, didn't have a problem with the story either. You are just looking for something to bitch about.

I hated how Niflheim rise and fall happens off screen considering it is the best part of the story. Niflheim would have been a way better story driven villain than Ardyn and daemons. I know we should be getting either an update or DLC for Niflheim but it should have been already on the game at launch. I think they should have had Ardyn and daemons take over after Noctis got to the city in chapter 13. It would have been awesome watching the city go to shite and try to get out of the city alive as it is getting overrun with daemons.

I just downloaded the entire xiii trilogy to have a change of pace while finishing the Platinum on XV and I never played xiii-2 or LR. Man I know xiii gets warranted hate but I forgot how terrible xiii starts off. It's just cut scene galore that would make Kojima proud.

I really feel like even that was a huge influence on XV's pacing. We know the linearity was a huge part of why XV is open world. I think they were too reactionary but XV's pacing is still worlds better than XIII. if anything it seems just rushed to meet a 2016 deadline and content cut.

I'm 130 hours in XV and not stopping soon. I just got the xiii trilogy to change it up BC I got tired off grinding dungeons and hunts constantly.

The battle system in XIII doesn't get enough credit imo

You are talking to the guy that liked the original ff14, ff11, didn't think ff10 needed a sequel, and even went into me3 with the mindset of "frick everyone's opinion, I'm going to enjoy this game" - I'm extremely open minded when it comes to stories, and it is fricking lazy writing where:

 will be DLC episodes.

Is the answer to ANY complaints

DLC should NEVER EVER exist to fix the fricking game: example - Mass effect fricking 3

And don't even get me started on having to watch a fricking anime and movie before playing the game.

There is a reason this game is getting demolished in Japan, they don't have a god complex with SE like the West does. They need to hear this from the fans, or people like my cousin, who have been huge FF fans their whole life - will just stop buying the games... like he hasn't bought one since xiii-2

ETA: just so you know, musick and I agree on most games, so I actually was expecting to really like this game from his review earlier in this thread, so I went into this game with a great mindset

The reason is getting "destroyed in Japan" (and it's not btw, its the fastest selling title) is that a flagship JRPG just went WRPG.

I haven't followed the thread too much BA, so do you not like this game at all? I just feel strongly that SE is in the right direction

I loved the expanse of the world, loved the combat system, and the graphics were amazing.

My only, and biggest gripe was the off-screen shite story elements that just screamed of teenage anxed driven poor writing

Combat system is a mess. I hate babysitting my party.

And it got old jumping every time I wanted to talk to someone or pick an item up.

Or trying to "refuel" and keep hitting "regalia" lol

Thank God they didn't incorporate ridiculous fall damage. Looking at you witcher 3

After going on hunts in duscae I finally see what y'all were saying about how shitty the camera is when fighting around trees. I kept getting caught by those octopus tentacle things that cast confuse on you when they catch you because I couldn't see shite. Almost threw my controller through the wall

Japan is a mess. The frickers work 15 hour days 7 days a week. If it isn't on mobile there isn't much hope for any success sales wise. SE neeeeeds the west. Their focus for console should target the west. Keep Japan happy with mobile games.

This is the direction of the franchise. If you don't like it. It's just time to get off the train.

This WRPG style is new for SE so there are some flaws. I just think it will only get better.

I will say this, I wouldn't have complained or anything were the entire story in the game, but you have to remember, you're Noctis. He would have no idea of the shite going on off screen so why should you be shown it? Knowing that, I'm fine not being shown that stuff. But I can see why it's a gripe with some people.
