Until you buy the next one.

I'm fine with some of the stuff happening off screen being that you are Notcis, but I agree that there were some things that could have been fleshed out more.
MAYBE SPOILER-Y
Like Prompto's reveal.. I feel like the whole being manufactured thing could've been hinted at more throughout the journey; and maybe a little more after the reveal like dealing with those feelings, maybe doing some soul searching with his comrades about his own existence (kinda thinking a little mix between your Terra and Celes's and Vivi) I don't know.. not like "hey you're still our pal," let's move on.
Then honestly the whole 10 year thing, I was just kinda like what? What even just happened here? But I also feel like they could've had some more story there, or maybe an in between chapter without noct, and the characters. Like didn't Iris become a badass hunter or something? I don't know. I felt like I wanted more out of that area of the story as well. Not like "oh hey you're back, final confrontation time."
Also like someone said I thought we were gonna get much more info into the empire's goings on when we were headed there; I thought there was just gonna be more story about it. I'm thinking like 6 and 14.

The Empire's background was fleshed out enough in my mind. Basically I took it as the Empire itself was just a pawn/tool of Ardyn. Lucis is the old Kingdom, and where Ardyn rose from years ago. He had been biding his time ever since to enact revenge, and take back the kingdom that was rightfully his in his mind.
Niflheim's rise was due to the power to use daemon's, and the Magitek army, which all stems from Ardyn. In the context of Noctis' journey I felt that is all that was needed to know about the empire. He helped create it, and used it until the time was right to finally strike at the heart of Lucis and Insomnia and break through the "Old Wall".

There is a reason this game is getting demolished in Japan, they don't have a god complex with SE like the West does. They need to hear this from the fans, or people like my cousin, who have been huge FF fans their whole life - will just stop buying the games... like he hasn't bought one since xiii-2
Well, FFXV is having pretty decent legs will easily finish over 1 million sold on PS4. That's not great, but within expectations with the gross decline in the console market in Japan.
I don't think you can really say the Square of today doesn't go out of their way to listen to feedback and try to incorporate things from their fans. I feel like they are a little too responsive and shouldn't feel to bend their vision quite as much.
I had to skim a lot of this thread, because I'm now in Chapter 13. Don't want to have more spoiled for me than I already have.

I wouldn't recommend reading anything I said until after you finish the game... as I tend to agree with you and musick on almost anything - you will probably like the ending... I just couldn't for the reasons mentioned in the spoiler tags (DO NOT READ IT) xD

*** SPOILERS ****
Ok, I just watched Kingsglaive... a few things are less annoying too me - 1) Ignis getting blinded by the ruthlessness of the Empire... at least he survived, just damn the Empire. Still pisses me the frick off this happened off screen though, frick that story telling design, I will never condone it. 2) Why couldn't they have shown us more of the decaying world around us in FFXV like they did in Kingsglaive?!?!?!?! It would have really shown the desperation of the world we were in... like, how fricking hard would it have been? That's right, they were so focused on making money from the movie that they left it completely out of the game... this is HORRIBLE writing once again. Also after seeing the absolutely ruthlessness of the Empire, it ticks me off that much more that we get 0 revenge, absolutely 0, nada, frick you player, they are for us to kill off screen for you, cause we are such nice people!
I'm still very bitter about the 10 year thing, this is a world that has gone through hell and back for the last 2,000 years, and especially in the last 100 years as Insomnia turned it's back on everyone else but themselves.. so what do the writers do? Let's add to that hell by putting them in darkness with death even more rampant while the King disappears
----------------------
That being said... after seeing the ruthlessness of what the Empire had done over 2,000 years since the Old War... the light that comes at the end of XV has been be super sweet for such a destroyed world... and I wish them all the best as hope finally comes over the horizon. This was easily the darkest game in the series too me - it's like if Kafka won, but instead of everything just resetting, we still got 100 years of hell + 10 years of absolute living hell and death with 0 hope
*** End of Spoilers ***

Yea I think that's why the story worked for me. Kingsglaive was required IMO.
That said, I platniumed today at 135 hours after beating adamtoise in 36 minutes. I was so high leveled and had some 999 AP skills and the 100% crit food, and the arminger accelerator. That fight was too easy with all that and the legendary daggers.
Just have the costlemark menace left in which you cannot use items in

Yeah all I have left is costmark menace which was pretty tough ans I didnt make it through and adamantoise. Haven't attempted adamantoise yet. I'm sure your guys are all better than mine if you even have some of the 999 skills. So I'll probly be looking at more than a 36 minute battle.

Man I never thought I'd say this but I'm missin the level grinding of the old ones. I'm in chapter 3 at level 40 I'm going to coast through the main story like nothing

Wait till you hit the post game dungeons...grind fest like no other

I'm having trouble getting into this. I find it very generic. Seriously, it looks like it's made out of a bunch of stock assets. It's so average that it's hard for to believe that it's gotten the reception it has.

bought it and still haven't played
im gridning the end of FFX to try and kill the Dark Aeons/Penance and get the plat

I reached a similar conclusion. This game feels very very average.
I have a hard time trusting game reviews and this further solidifies it. People WANT to like this game. It's odd.
In the battle of the worst final fantasy games, I feel like xiii edges out xv.

This part I don't understand. What specifically feels like stock assets? It has pretty good variety in environments and they've done a lot of little things to spice things up (that was a food pun).

I agree 100%. But I need to stop with all the negativity. Will try and be the last I comment on the mediocreness of it it. Just such a let down after all the hype.

SPOILERS
I finally set sail and just got off the train. They did not dive deep enough into Luna and noct for me to have any real emotion about what happened.I know the story to this point has been centered around the bros and they continued to nail the emotion between them and felt for them. I can't feel nocts pain about losing her and in the long run I don't think that is what is hurting him the most at this point. It's his love for his friends and what happened to ignis that is hitting him the hardest.
That is what this games story is supposed to be about. What is going on outside of what you see just isn't as important to what is happening to the bro's. Noctis hardly knew Luna in the big picture. The other 3 are all he knows.....probably more so than his own father. Losing any of those guys would hit him harder than losing anyone else.
I feel as if we know only what they know as far as everything that is progressing outside of their bubble.
-Im going to get married to someone I like.
-Oh shite my dad is dead and my city has fallen. None of which I witnessed.
-I have to reclaim my throne but have no idea what I'm doing.
-Find Luna for help and acquire the ring.
-Run into the empire here and there which is taking over but have no real idea what I'm up against yet. Which is why there is no real qualm with Ardyn to this point and why he is still a mystery.
- Find Luna but now she is dead.
What really matters.
- Ignis is blind. I feel guilty and scared now more than ever. All that really matters most to me I have caused harm to.
Pretty much where I'm at to this point.
