Favorite Pokemon Generation

I grew up playing Pokemon, and have always loved it but after Gold/Silver I felt like I outgrew it until Diamond/Pearl came out and have played occasionally since then.
Well I was jonesing for a new game this weekend, and decided it'd been long enough since my last Pokemon game and picked up Omega Ruby.
I'm about 15 hours into the game and enjoying it so far. It got me thinking about which generation is actually my favorite. I think Gold/Silver (gen 2) made the biggest impact for me. Being able to travel through Kanto after beating the Pokemon League was such a surprise and really extended the life of that game. I still remember trying to take on Red and having his Pikachu whoop me.

3 easy.
The teams were a bit whack, but overall, the Pokémon, legends, characters and ESPECIALLY the music are all better than any other track sans a few tracks.

I would probably go with 2nd gen silver/gold. I played 3rd gen, but XY got me back in it when I got older.

I played X/Y about half way through. I put it down and just never picked it back up. I plan on playing it again after finishing Omega Ruby.
One thing I've noticed in OR (and Diamond/Pearl and X/Y) is the increased importance on the beauty contests in the games. I could really do without that mechanic. I know its mostly unnecessary, and I think it's a good call to add a new mechanic that caters to other types of players, but it's just not for me.

Getting all the pokemon in red and yellow was the best for me. Once they added new pokemon I was kinda turned off by it and never tried it after yellow.

Gen 4 was the best to me. Diamond/Pearl/Platinum did the best job of any, to me, of balancing the old game mechanics and Pokémon in the series with great new additions.
Plus, the Gold and Silver remakes were outstanding.

Generation 1. Everything else was just milking the franchise to death.

Yep, although 2 was a good follow-up. Gen V is a total abortion.

A tie between 1 and 3 for me. Although I will say I love the idea of the same pokemon having different types based on their region. The Alolan stuff is really cool. Haven't had a chance to play the game yet though. Hopefully soon.
