Fallout 3 for me. Was the first Bethesda came ever and walking out into the wasteland not knowing what the hell I was doing was incredible. I'd pay money to have my mind wiped of the game so I can experience for the first time again lol.

FO3 was definitely a better story line. I am partial to Vegas due to growing up there. I spent a good bit of time at the lodge where the mutants were staying. Things like that made the game for me.

Agreed. I never finished NV. I played FO3 3 times with my first playthru being about 97hrs. Main story wasnt that good but the side missions were a blast.
Question:did anyone find all the Keller Tapes from FO3? I grabbed two and never got the others. Was curious if the MIRV was any good or just a clusterfrick of death

I played the hell out of New Vegas.
Put about 3 hours into F3 and never got back into it. Don't know why.

I grabbed it. It's fun but isn't to practical most of the time. A lot less useful than the actual Fatman IMO

Another thing I liked about Vegas was that you could have a human and a non-human companion. You could store more stuff and they were very effective. I rolled with the robot for his extra sensors and the sniper who would take bullshite enemies out before I even saw them.

Fallout 3 was better imo. It was a better environment. Although I really liked the money aspect of New Vegas, I spent so much time in Casinos trying to win money.

New Vegas was gamebreaking glitchy for me.
all the people talking about glitches on New Vegas obviously haven't played Fallout 3 on PC

Thanks for the info. I might just get both.
Best decision. Also I love the Legion from New Vegas ... I can't wait for another Fallout these games are amazing!

"Fallout" and "glitch" are synonymous.

Wait, some people didn't start out with Luck 9 or higher?

Xbox 360.
Tbh, in a couple of years when I actually have time and a week off, I'll delete my save games and dive in.

NV had an annoying thing on the box when you would try to "continue". Game would never load. You had to start a new game and then go to the load screen.

Both's fallouts were very glitchy. Fallout 3 even has a disclaimer on steam about compatibility.

3 on the PC is a nightmare. If it only freezes up on me once a night, I'm good.

Nope, I got critical hits almost every other shot.
I'll find my beginning stats and post them if I can dig it outta the attic.

I've been to DC several times, so Fallout 3 was awesome.
OP, are you playing on Xbox or PC? Fallout 3 gave my 360 the red ring STD about 4 years ago and I eternally swore off Bethesda products on console. I now own 3 and NV on PC, and have almost no glitch problems. The only problem I had was with Fallout 3. When you leave the first vault, the game freezes, and doesn't come back on. It turns out, in typical Bethesda fashion, the game would not play on Windows 7, and Bethesda has no plans to release a patch. I did some Google research, and had to change some stuff in the game settings, and the game worked flawlessly after that.
So, to Bethesda, to the gaming community for fixing their product.
But to answer the original question, get both. Fallout 3 is a much better story line, and IMO, much better scenery and setting. New Vegas has better weapons, more options, cleans up a lot of the interface, and was more fun.

So far I'm still leaning towards NV. I put in roughly 100 hours into my first playthough of NV and 20 into the second so far. I'm also about 10 hours into my first playthrough of 3 with all the DLC.
After playing New Vegas and having mostly open except caves, I really don't like using the metros in 3 as the only way to get around most parts of the city. It just feels like a tedious maze. I feel like there's much more of a variety of enemies early on in NV. I've just come across mostly super mutants and raiders in 3.
I've been fortunate enough not to get hit by any major bugs in either playthrough (barring a few freezes in NV and terribel stuttering on 3, which was solved by installing the disc). You should enjoy both, but the post earlier was right. You should definitely play 3 before NV if you get both.

UGH I hate metros too. This is one part of NV that's better, you don't have to navigate through a dark underground maze to get to the next section of the map.
