I really don't like using the metros in 3 as the only way to get around most parts of the city. It just feels like a tedious maze.

Yes, yes, that was a drag.

Thanks everyone for the help. I picked up both games after work. I am about to start working on Fallout 3 first.

I don't understand how people say the plot was better in FO3. It was stupid. NV had four awesome factions fighting over control of the entire Mojave wasteland. It was much bigger in scope. Plus the dlcs actually added to the story.

Yeah I much prefer the divergent ending choices if NV. It would have been interesting if you could have sided with the Enclave in FO3

That casino madre, or whatever it was called, dlc was a bust imo. With FO3 I felt like the story pulled me into the wasteland a bit more. It was something new and mysterious for me. Vegas was nothing new and mysterious for me.

The story with Father Elijah was pretty good, especially if you play Old World Blues where they give more of his back story. The first part was kinda lame but it got cool once you made it into the casino.

And depth that tied into the other entries in the series.

Agreed. I LOVED F03, but everything about NV was better. The aforementioned metros in FO3 were the worst part of the series. I'm down for a cluttered downtown area, but it was a HUGE pain in the arse getting to places in that ~4 map area. The area right outside of New Vegas was fairly similar, but MUCH better done.

The only thing NV had over FO3 were certain gameplay mechanics, most of which were first created as mods for FO3. The Capitol Wasteland is so much more fun to explore than some boring fricking desert. Also the BOS/Enclave plus the Mercs and Supermutants were much better NPCs/enemies than the Legion or NCR.

Playing FO3 made me feel like I've actually explored a nuked DC. I could never get into NV simply because the environment/atmosphere is so incredibly boring. Wandering the Nevada desert felt like a damn chore.

That's just plain false.

NCR>>>>>>Enclave

NV had BoS, merc, and supermutants. NV even has a supermutant that can be a companion.. .and he was FROM Fallout 2.

And the BoS acts like the motherfricking BoS in NV.

Deathclaws in NV made the desert ANYTHING but boring. They were a better monster than all the monsters in FO3 combined.

I've said it before, my biggest problem with FO3, is the FO part. The game is akin to making a lacrosse game using some NFL team names. . .and calling it Madden NFL 20whatever.

FO3 is just not a Fallout title, New Vegas is a Fallout title.

Yeah, the political infighting of a shithole city in the desert is far more important than wiping out what's left of humanity. Series continuity is overrated, aside from certain elements there is no core story being told as if it was a trilogy or something. How did FO3 not have open ended gameplay?

My subjective opinion is more factual than your subjective opinion.

Yep, from their tiny little hideout.

Except for, you know, the Deathclaws that were in FO3.

I don't give a damn if it perfectly aligns with the first two games. I'm judging each game on its own merits and FO3 provides a much more enjoyable experience.

FO3 MQ is all about helping your dad make a water filter.

If you never showed up, the water is sill dirty and humanity keeps on chugging.

In New Vegas, the MQ allows you to effect real change in your world. You decide who rules, and what vision becomes reality.

No faction in FO3 is even remotely as interesting (good or bad) as the factions in New Vegas, except a couple of minor factions like the vampires or the slavers.

Yep, from their tiny little hideout.
Which is how the BoS rolls in every other fallout game.

Damn NV for being consistent.

FO3 deathclaws are as easy s any other monster.

In NV, they will kill the shite out of you until you are relatively high level.

Series continuity is overrated
Unless if, you know, you are a Fallout fan.

Maybe the next Avengers movie should be about LSU Football.

And? It doesn't have to be part of a trilogy to be a sequel.

Because you have to hold this position.

FO3 is a fine game. But it fails in that it has one of the shittiest MQ's in the history of open world gaming, and that it is not a Fallout title. Not to mention that FO3 is waaaaay fricking easier than NV. Hell, it is the second easiest Bethesda game I have played, behind Skyrim. But at least Skyrim has rich lore and varied environments.
