The learning curve an YouTube videos needed to do basic shite is daunting.

Feels like I need to take notes and shite just to learn fricking docking protocol.

I want to play, as I am a HUGE fan of space games and this game looks thorough, but not sure I have the time to learn all this stuff.

Anyone else have this problem? Hope I didn't waste $30.

Just buy a docking computer. It'll save you a ton of time.

At first glance, I thought the title said "Ellen Degenerous is really hard to start playing"

I bought it, but found that it would, randomly, uninvert my flight controls, and the only way I could find to fix it was to start the game over from the beginning. After three or four instances of this, I uninstalled it.

One of the most addicting games I've ever played.

I have two main ships. One I use only to smuggle slaves and drugs and the other I use to dogfight. Equally satisfying.

I hear it's fun in VR.
I was thinking about getting it from Oculus store, but they list the Commander Deluxe edition for $59.99. Don't really want to spend that much on it.

I really like Elite, but the depth is not on the breadth of content but in the execution of it. If piloting the ship was more automated, you'd probably run out of new things to do in a couple days or less.

Freelancer and Darkstar One are a couple of examples of really good spams sims that don't require a whole lot of effort to get into.

Docking computer can be a crutch but with bigger ships is kinda a must as they handle like big ships.

It's a stunning visual game but is not THAT hard. Sure there is a ton of content to learn but once you get the basics it's just grind to mastery.

Reading is still > youtubing when it comes to EliteD. Can grasp the content of the explanations of what "this" does to "that" better than listening to some wanker from a foreign land try to 'splain it.

Stick with it and you'll be dogfighting and trading and ranking up in all areas in no time, or at least blasting rocks for profits.

Picked this up. I'm enjoying the atmosphere. I definitely get turned around and haven't fully figured out even basic stuff like traveling. Docking is tough also.

I really suck at spacefighting. Is there a way to do a quick turn or something? I can't seem to get behind people very well and I got destroyed in that advanced training session.

Use physics, reverse thrust while turning. Use all 3 dimensions too. Weight/thrust has some, but very little, effect too depending on what your trajectory was prior to the turn (inertia). Also use the thrusters to assist the turns.

Multiple targets = the old divide and conquer. Run away till they break off, follow back and aggro individually.

Same thing for me. Played 3 hours about 2 months ago and haven't touched it since.

Does anyone have any advice on bounty hunting? I'm trying to jump into that because I bought a bigger ship with more firepower. Figured it would be an enjoyable way to make money.

Go to the Active War systems, find the mining sites in the asteroid belts, wait for the visuals of cops shooting the bad guys, join on their target after you scan the target w/warrant scanner.

ALWAYS wait for cops to shoot 1st and always have an escape targeted to get out of system in case of misfire or stray shot.

War systems have bad guys active in bigger ships (higher value target).

Aggro management is key to the big gunships. Stop shooting and run towards cops if you draw heavy aggro.

Scan every ship in the asteroid belt so even if the bad guys are not engaged you already have the main scan completed for when they eventually do get active. You can make many many millions just camping bands of cops and engaging for a few hits on bandits.

You'll have to upgrade your ship to be able to turn better.

So, still trying to figure out if I should start expanding outwards. I'm doing a lot of transport runs. Trying to get to where I can carry passengers. The Galaxy is so damn expansive and I don't know if I should move out. I also joined the federation since that was the predominant power where I was dropped.

Any hints?

I got bored with simple fighter missions and transports after a while, so I got a fuel scoop and a huge jump drive and decided to. Just explore.

I don't know what you're playing on, but if you have full high-def graphics and a solid monitor, just exploring and going from system to system is alot of fun.
