Mining asteroids is extremely profitable in the right setup as well as extremely relaxing. Shooting rocks and listening to the gurgling, bubbling, sounds of the retrieval probes while staring at space vistas, it doesn't get much more relaxing.

Note what the departure station is requesting as far as minerals a few days and then mine for that. Don't accept the missions until your return to be sure you have accepted/mined just right. That way there's no neg hit to faction for failing mission.

Also, be sure to swap back and forth from dock between solo and open to regen the missions list till you get plenty of missions to suit your whims no matter what type missioning you desire.
