Well New Light which includes the base game, warmind and curse of osiris expansion will be free to play. Shadowkeep is $35 or like $60 with deluxe. see below:

I really like the changes to allowing you to be 100 power level under an enemy and still do damage. It may not be very much, but you won't be completely worthless.

i took the plunge and preordered this because why not, maybe with them gone from activision it'll be better. if not, what's another 40 bucks to this damn game that'll be my last ever

Man I wore out that starting area on the moon going in that circle to farm. Kids these days don’t know how good they have it

For those coming back from a long break, all of your gear will be leveled to 750.
I would dismantle everything except the armor you like the perks on. Delete the weapons you don't like or that have questionable perks. I would keep at least one of each type and archetype as we aren't sure how the different nerfs and buffs will affect the PvE sandbox.
Delete all your ghosts except one with guiding light for the XP bonus. Delete all your shaders and ships. Delete all of your transmat effects.
Purchase as many planetary materials as you can afford. AFK farming forges will be patched. If you need legendary shards, run the menagerie as you can get four drops.
If you want an XP boost, stockpile completed bounties, and turn them in once Shadowkeep goes live.
You'll have until reset tomorrow to tidy up. Destiny will be offline for 24 hours heading into Shadowkeep's launch. The raid launches Saturday.

I’ve been basically farming Menagerie for Austringer and Imperial Decree and trying for a good roll Blast Furnace Pulse at the forge. Saving bounties and investing disposable glimmer into “other side” sparrows to sell next week. I think we are going to try and finish up Outbreak catalyst tonight. Ready for SK!

How is bright dust more valuable than the ships and ghosts that I'm pretty fond of?

You can reacquire them whenever you want...for resource materials instead of bright dust after Shadowkeep.
