In my opinion the best way to catch the bug again is to go online and watch some crazy AGDQ/SDGQ/Twitch runs of your old favorites.

I got back in via mobile games. I did KOTR and now I'm playing a game called Vain Glory which is a DOTA styled mobile game. Lots of fun.

Next thing I know I bought a gaming computer and play a shite ton of rocket league with the crew.

I'd recommend the $0 investment and try out Rocket League.

I've been playing the Elder Scrolls Online. There's plenty of exploration and questing available without grinding. It's a one time purchase and no subscription. Most paid content is cosmetic so it's less pay-to-win than some MMOs. Though I haven't done any PvP so I could be completely wrong.

Bastion or Torchlight are my recs for getting back into games.

The Elder Scrolls Online is pretty damn fun on console. The only reason I quit playing is I just didn't have the time to commit to it.
