Any good survivalist games out there?

I've heard good things about Miasmata and The Forest. From what I understand though, both games have science fiction elements to some of the creatures / inhabitants you'll encounter. That might be a turn off for you.

I miss old ARMA 2 DayZ when it didn't have buildings, keyed cars, tanks/jets, all sorts of other manner of garbage. Also before every god damn thing made you sick. Around 1.7.5 was when it was the most fun. Sucks that all that extra is what it takes to keep a server populated now...
Some of the ARMA 3 mods have been showing promise. Been meaning to check out Day Zero for ARMA 3.
Did the ARK devs give up on the game? Those frickers were updating it so much I uninstalled it cause I got tired of downloading 10 gig updates every day I started steam up. I thought they were porting it to PS and Xbox?
Reign of Kings doesn't surprise me that they gave up though.

I just bought Subnautica too...kinda in the genre. Pretty fun so far.

I read Subnautica does have limits on resources. Eventually you simply run out of air.
Long Dark kinda looked interesting, except it's winter and my feet are already cold without walking around in a Canadian set game environment.
I just got Salt last week for less than $10. Kinda fun, kinda lame, single player alpha. Can check their demo totally free, play a couple days.
What's the latest on H1Z1? Since the Russians bought out SOE not heard much from this game.

Day9 was playing something that looked really cool, but maybe too linear for the "survival" genre - check out Soma.

I played with a pretty good group that played a lot. They usually were pretty good at finding the one heli on the server. Finding a UAZ was super special too. I almost forget how bad the hacker era was, got ridiculous there.

I purchased a buddy and myself a copy of the DayZ standalone. We lasted maybe 3-4months and gave it up. It was a better game than the mod pre-hacker hacks but the bugs killed us. Literally killed us, you would load in much too often dead.
