My first character was a PG (got erased by server errors) and got drafted by Portland. I can see Portland being a shitty situation as a PG, I would prefer to play SG next to Lillard not replace him

Adjust shot timing until you get what you like. I have Ray Allen motion with quick release.

With the quick release I can achieve an excellent release timing when a defender sags off or I have a big man switched on me. With default timing, the defender could close the gap or straight up block my shot before I could get anywhere near excellent release timing.

Do you guys run plays or just wing it? I don't even really know how to call plays.
How do you call for the ball also?
I'm pretty decent on defense, but on offense I'm up and down. Sometimes I put up 25 and sometimes 5. Horrible at FTs too.

Since I am not a PG I cannot call plays, but I switched play-calling to auto so the computer runs sets.

Also affected by release timing I think. Much better to get early release IMO, I've gotten free-throws that bounce off the front iron with an A- slightly late release.

2k13 used to show the route to run. Does that even happen in 14? I haven't seen it. I play point at times, and I never see options or plays to run as in 13

In the option menu there is an option for route display - it starts out on "lite" and can be turned onto "full" which is what you are looking for.
