I'm just messing with you, buddy. The only reason I started the guild is because nobody else did. And I'm kind of a big deal on this site, of course.

I think it would be a good idea for you to run the hypothetical Guild Wars 2 chapter, in case anybody is still playing SWTOR when it comes out (looking less and less likely).

Playing coy worked. Power grab complete.

Kidding.

I figured. Really solid name for the guild though, and it's all for fun. GW2 might get a little competitive. I was a on a solid competitive squad in GW, since that was the name of the game.

Will do. Probably get a thread up soon.

Man that's sad, I know i'm not helping by not jumping in, when I was excited about it for a long time.

I primarily played a Mesmer in the first Guild Wars, but I like the concept of the Engineer class. Any thoughts as to what you might play?

No need to hijack this one, I'll start a thread and keep it updated.

But to answer your question: Guardian. No doubt. And then maybe Engineer. I played mainly a Nec, Rit, and Paragon in the first one.

There's not a whole lot going on in this thread, so don't sweat it. We really should have an Arkham City-esque countdown thread for GW2, though.

SWTOR Guild Summit

Muppet, why don't you submit an application for the Guild Summit?

I could solve the server balance problems by lobbing a tear gas canister into the Empire conference room.

FYI, Hjandjob and I are seeing the phantom menace. I'll let you know if it's as bad as it used to be.

Yea it was the same movie, but the 3D wasn't that good. I just wanted to see it in theaters again since I hadn't seen it since it came out and only once since then. It was fun to see it again, but if you want to I'd recommend the 2D option.

Yah im not a fan of 3d to begin with. The only 3d movie I enjoyed was Avatar. Every other 3d movie ive seen looks like shite. Plus I have the Phantom Menace on dvd at my house... why would I pay 20 bucks to go see it in the theatre when I could watch it on my beautiful 60 inch samsung?

I took my son to see it. He had never seen it before.

He is hooked on Star Wars now.

Say what you want about Phantom Menace, but it succeeds in what it meant to do. . .attract younger eyes.

I still think the entire movie would have been better with the elimination of Jar Jar Binks. he is 75% of what is wrong with the movie. I also hate the forcing of a "circle of life" with R2 and C3PO.

Here's a good article about companion AI since we love to complain about them:

darthhater

quote:

Let's begin with what's horribly, horribly out of whack first, shall we? Tank companions. Everyone gets them, and everyone quickly learns just how terrible they are at actually tanking. In most situations a heavy-armor clad DPS character will actually have better survivability than a tanking companion. Things werent always this way though; for the vast majority of game testing, tanking companions had as part of their tanking stance a 40% armor buff. This allowed them to have mitigation around 40%, sometimes even up to 50%, a far cry from the measly 20-30% mitigation they have now. Some players argued that tanking companions in those builds tanked far too well, and that healers had an inordinate advantage over other players because they had the ability to keep their companions up through anything short of an Heroic 4 quest. BioWare seemed to agree with that line of thinking, and the armor buff was removed a few weeks before launch.

The fallout was massive, and immediately apparent to anyone who had seen prior builds. Tank companions instantly became little more than red-shirted cannon fodder and crafting helpers. This stands in stark contrast to healing and damage dealing companions, who fulfill their roles extremely well. Tanking characters backed up by a healing companion are effectively unkillable in solo and duo PvE situations. At the same time, DPS companions can output an insane amount of damage with the right equipment. I jokingly refer to my Sniper's ranged DPS companion as 'mini-me' whenever she drops a three thousand point critical shot on a target. Tanking companions by comparison are lucky to survive a fight with an Elite, and have to rest nearly every other fight at higher levels.

That's not to say that tanking companions can't get the attention of the enemy; they do a marvelous job of holding aggro in most situations. The problem is that once every enemy in sight starts shooting at them, they crumple faster than a wet paper bag in a demolition derby. BioWare needs to either return the flat armor buff to the Tanking stance of defense minded companions, or find some other way to significantly improve their durability, perhaps by adding a scaling armor buff with their primary stat while in tanking stance. Until that happens, most players will relegate tanking companions to the role of personal crafting assistants.

Also, it may be after 9 before I can get on tomorrow night.

ETA: I don't understand why it had to be either a 40% buff or no buff at all. Why not a 20% buff? 15? 25? Bioware loves to put out candles with fire hoses.

I finally got my ship back! Talk about a pain. I ran out of quests I could do by myself, and couldn't get anyone to group with for the others. I finally was able to sit back and kill that guy that was blocking the path to it.

Now let's see what I can do!
