I'm partial to Longhorn. Their ribeyes are better than the other 2.

That’s a great deal for a restaurant but it’s still outback they’re pretty horrible these days. For 20 bucks you could get a prime filet at Costco.

yeah i admit i havent been in quite a while but for $20 it cant be that bad, right? AND you get the pumpernickel bread fo free

Last time I had Texas Roadhouse I got it to go and had extremely low expectations and it genuinely made me happy how solid it was.

Of those 3:

1. Texas Roadhouse
2. Longhorn
3. Outback - even when others liked it, I always thought they over seasoned their steaks.

As for I would order, it wouldn't be a filet.

At Texas Roadhouse, I would get some cheese fries (I'm a steak fry fan, so theirs are my favorite) for a starter. Then i would order the bone-in ribeye medium rare with a Caesar salad and sauteed mushrooms.

I avoid chain steakhouses like the plague…. Either nice steak place or I’ll cook it at home.

Agreed. If I'm going to eat a cheap steak, I'll just cook something at home. I couldn't tell you the last time I've been to a steakhouse that wasn't "high end" or ordered a steak that wasn't prime off a regular restaurant's menu.

Outback was, is, and always will be, garbage. Period.

Although I did enjoy one of those onion things about 20 or so years ago.

You should be able to cook a filet better than any of those restaurants you listed.

For his first Filet Mignon??...stop being a cheap arse and take him to a place he'll get the best possible option or go buy the best you can get and make it yourself and teach him how.

You are essentially asking which street corner in the worst part of town you should take him to for his first time.

And hope he doesn't like it overdone cause then it's a waste all around.

I can, but my wife and daughter are going, too. I think part of the allure is going out, is everyone ordering different entrees, appetizers, and salads. I'm not going to cook two ribeyes, a piece of salmon, and a filet, potatoes skins, blooming onion, salads, baked potatoes, and green beans.

I got two "Great meal!" votes and a "meh, I don't like raw red onions in the salad" vote for the Greek chicken I cooked last night. I can't please everyone, so sometimes you gotta go out, but a prime steak house is not gonna work.

The chicken was awesome, FWIW.

A few years ago, I frequently would go to the Outback when I worked in Hattiesburg. Good steak. Went to the Longhorn in Lafayette about a year ago and their steak was surprisingly good.

My parents like the Longhorn in Lafayette and it’s been good every time I’ve eaten there.

I’ve tried the one in Denham Springs and was disappointed so I haven’t been back.

Ignore the usual “WHY AINT YOU MAKIN AT HOME” and “I CAINT EVEN REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I WENT TO A STEAKHOUSE” dorks

I traveled a lot for work and TX Roadhouse was by far the best and most consistent of the three
