Shes the ultimate cougar so I'll giver her a pass, although her cake does look like crap.

I dont care for the donut king cakes.

I won a king cake at Rouses Friday, got to choose what I wanted so I got a filled Bavarian Cream, it was pretty damn tasty!!

I also got a Bavarian Cream one at Rouses, but it came in a LeBlanc's box. I guess that still counts. It was good.

But I do have a gripe with most their King Cakes. They looked a one year old child decorated them. The one I bought liked nice, with the purple, yellow and green sugar separated, but most of the cakes had all the sugar mixed together or just sprinkled on top of each other. Looked like shite. If I didn't find that nice looking Bavarian Cream one, I would searched elsewhere.

Every now and then there people talk about certain foods being overrated.

King Cake, other than for nostalgic reasons, which I understand, is at the top of the list.

I could name 500 things I'd rather waste empty calories on.

What kind of hard alcohol did she pair it with?

I picked up a Rouses king cake and was impressed. But I agree, the appearance would not lead you to believe they were any good.

Nothing finishes off a nice Disney gumbo and Sandra Lee king cake like a surprise kick in the gooch from behind.

Rouses is tops for inexpensive kingcakes. I don't know about that Bavarian creme though. Plain should be the only option.

Worst kingcake is whole foods.

Agree with Whole Foods being worst

For the money, rouse's may very well be the best. Maybe only old McKenzie's could beat it

$14 for a large filled king cake is a steal. My family has been shopping at Rouses for 30 years, always enjoyed their king cakes. Best thing they use to make and I don't find they are as good as they use to be are the Tarte-Ta-La Bouille.

I think Sucre King Cakes are pretty bad. Pricey, small and have always been really dry for me.

Yep. No idea why so many people mention them as a favorite on here.

i dig rouses as a good value option

though somebody got strawberry cream the other day and i was pretty upset by how awful it was... and that was even expecting strawberry cream to not be very good
