I'd scrape that nasty arse cottage cheese off, clean out the pear with my T shirt, and eat the pear...that's what I'd do.

are those pears with cottage cheese and shredded cheese? my mom used to eat them but not make them for everyone.
I believe it was considered dietetic and a meal replacement option in the 70's, there was a huge Dole campaign around it.

Mine used mayonnaise instead of cottage cheese.
I've also seen sour cream, I believe. Although, I haven't seen the dish in person in probably 30 years.
