I hate the WF on Magazine and could see myself driving over to Broad from uptown to get my fix.

That one is confusing to me. Seems like the northshore would be a better option.

I do a lot of community outreach and public meetings in lower-income neighborhoods. In nearly every place we go, the number one request is a decent grocery store. Whole Foods has done their research and knows this. They can locate it just a little inside of a bad neighborhood. That way they can get the foot and transit traffic while knowing that people in nearby good neighborhoods will still drive there. Another interesting thing to note about this location is it's proximity to the Lafitte Greenway. Once that thing gets built in a year or two the neighborhood will gentrify over night.

I also believe that this particular location will be one of their Neighborhood Markets and is smaller than a full Whole Foods. 25,000 sq. ft as opposed to say the BR one, which is close to 50,000 sq. ft.

There will have to be better parking at the Broad Street location.

Kinda surprised Shreveport does not have one yet to be honest. I'm sure stores in Shreveport and Mandeville are on the drawing board...

our grocery stores are horrible

I repeatedly hear rumors of this but they just never seem to materialize. I guess we don't have the demographic to support one. At least in Shreveport you have Line Ave Brookshire's, Maxwell's, Cush's, and Bayou Walk Kroger which is better than Bossier. Those stores are REALLY horrible.

Makes sense. Thanks.

I can handle this. That's very close to my house, too, so even more of a convience.

That would be awesome for BR. I have a friend from Birmingham, Ala. who is dying for a Trader Joes to finally open up a store there to no avail

Yuuuuuuuuuup. They're doing work on the site right now. It's going to be by Acme and Galatoire's Bistro, where the old Perkins Road Walmart was. Shoot, I bet it will be open by the end of the year.

Evidently the northshore is not on the radar. This is the response I got. Maybe we should have an email campaign?

Thank you for your suggestion. At this time we do not have plans for development in the Mandeville /Covington, LA area. I will pass along your request though

Has there been any word on what other stores/retailers will be in the shopping center with Trader Joe's?

In New Orleans, Rouses > Whole Foods when it comes to beer.

I LOVE me some Whole Foods, but I have to agree. Similar concept, but more "regular" groceries.

I mean, I love going to Whole Foods and going for the pizza, asian bowls, bread, cheese, soups, etc. But I hate having to go to a different store to pick up my Fruit Loops and Milk Bones for my dog.
