How was the bourbon selection?
Nothing out of the ordinary. Very small compared to all the wine and beer they have. It's on the outside wall of the bar. If looking at the beer, it's behind you.
I only looked really quick though, but nothing stood out to me besides the usual suspects. I could have missed something though

That bar looks pretty sweet.
The Metairie WF was supposed to have a bar and they had planned to do educational type of things and have wine and cheese events, etc along with beer taps.
I'm pretty sure the original plans were approved to allow it all, but then some council person decided to pretend to have morals or some crap like that and didn't like the idea of a bar in a store. Nevermind that there are 40 bars within a quarter mile of that store.

I was in Lafayette today and was able to check it out. Yup, this location has a bar with a decent beer selection, but you have to keep the beer within the bar area. Not sure why one would go to a grocery store to have a pint unless you're killing time while letting the wife shop. I'd love to be able to enjoy craft suds while I walk around and shop, but no dice. The bar is enclosed by saloon like swinging doors. That's one thing it has over the BR location. What BR does have that Lafayette doesn't have is a sit down Asian counter. They do have sushi chefs actively preparing food for purchase, but what I like about the BR location is to be able to sit down at lunchtime to some sort of noodle dish, like cold soba or ramen for instance. Although I love my beer, I'd personally rather see a lunch counter in the bar's place.
As previously stated and as expected, it was absolutely mobbed today, with parking and navigation of the aisles being the only drawbacks, because the checkout lines were maybe one person deep at the most. Also, there are tons of grand opening sales and more than usual food samples.
Not sure of the exact square footage compared to BR, but even though each department has a smaller feel to it, I noticed some great offerings. For instance, tons of varieties of sausages, above average seafood counter with drum, amberjack and other seafood items that you would never see at other local groceries. Exotic mushrooms and other items that aren't found at other places are offered as well.
Yes, they do carry tri tip.
I suppose it's because they just opened, and doors were probably ajar with all of the stocking and deliveries, but there were lots of house flies buzzing on and around the salad bar and other open food areas.
Of course, they don't call it "Whole Paycheck" for nothing. For instance, baby back ribs are $9.49/lb. That means if you want one rack of ribs, you're going to be paying $35 per rack. Bring your wallet, but enjoy the unique offerings.

Mois, aussi. I had a beer at WF today, too. If that's wrong, then I don't want to be right...

What in the hell is wrong with grabbing a drink while you shop?
I'm thinking you have some sort of loser syndrome.
