Slash ur thread....go to Bourques off 190 n Port Barre. Have fresh cold boudin at the meat counter n the back left of store (frozen available if u gotta)...and grab a loaf of jalapeno sausae cheese bread n the back right of store.

Serious.

Real serious.

Billy's in Opelousas. As others have said, Bourque's in Port Barre is good as well if you want to take a ride out that way. The difference in quality of boudin alone is not enough to make the drive from Opelousas, in my opinion, but Bourque's offers a large selection of specialty meats, and their jalapeno sausage bread is good.

Best boudin IN Opelousas is Billys and nobody else comes close. The store is called Billy and Rays-don't know the story of the joint venture-just make sure you ask for Billys, rays taste too livery and the consistency is not good. They sell it hot or frozen, also have sausage, GREAT cracklins, and AWESOME boudin balls

This statement completely invalidates any opinion you have on anything in your lifetime.

Nonsense. Bourques puts Billy's to shame. Billy's boudin stinks and gave me stomach ache, plus it's filthy inside.

I'd walk to the Mowata store from Opelousas to get their boudin.

i am not saying its bad, still ranks up there in my opinion. the last few batches i have gotten has been the greasiest boudin i have ever eaten and we eat a lot of boudin.

i will add, been eating it for years but i think it's gone down lately.

i have to try that sometime. everyone seems to rave about it.

you gotta love boudin threads. everyone has a different opinion on what is the best. it's all about personal preference.

This is why I will have to try several stops to form my own opinion.

No need to travel the roads when you can get a side by side comparison of the best in Acadiana at the Lafayette Boudin Cookoff

eta: I was at Bourque's this past Saturday.. it's the best in the Opelousas/Port Barre quadrant of Acadiana.. But once you get to Lafayette, Johnson's Boucaniere dominates. K&B in Ville Platte is great too.
