I also like the Lot No. 40. Passed it up several times before I tried it because it was out of Canada.

Which of the Johnny Walker labels are the best for beginners? Aside from blue, of course.

I would start with a Magenta or a burnt sienna if you are feeling bold.

I'm personally not a huge fan of any of them but I find Double Black > Gold > Black > everything else > Red.

I couldnt stand any of the JWs so I never really tried many more scotchs after them. But I have recently and dont find the single malts not offensive like the JWs. Glenfiddich 12 and 15 I like both.

I concur with Double Black being some of the best from JW. After that for the prices you can get solid single malts. Double Black really is a decent blended for the price though.
