Yup, which I don't do anymore btw. Now I only buy scotch or bourbon I can drink on the rocks.

Back when I mixed, those were my two favs though.

Dang. There's just no reason to spend $35 on a bottle of bourbon when you're mixing w/ coke. Hell I don't even like spending more than $20 on bourbons I mix with coke. I enjoy a bourbon/coke or bourbon/sprite every once in a while too. Just not wasting my good bourbon on it.

Agreed. I would rather spend $50 and enjoy it on the on the rocks than the situation you outlined. We are on the same page.....

Someone is price gouging you on that. It's about $26-$27 around here. Definitely my everyday go-to bourbon

I know it's not your normal high dollar whiskeys, but can someone give me a review on the honey/JD, or the honey/Wild Turkey, it seems that's the new craze with these lower priced whiskeys..

They aren't anything I'd ever drink much of. I do have a bottle of the wild turkey though. It's awesome when you have a soar throught though.

May favorite bourbons I've tried are Bookers and Eagle Rare 17.

Definitely one of the gems out there. Elmer T Lee and Eagle Rare 10 year are steals at their price.

I'm sipping on that 4 Roses Single Barrel right now and it is fantastic. The site Dr. Beardface linked to on page 3 rates it a 9.2 - the same rating he gives Jefferson Presidential 18, LINK. I was skeptical, given the price, but it is an easy sipping whiskey.

I'm still searching for the Sazerac 18 - my store had the Thomas H. Handy but I'm trying to hold out for the 18. I'm also on the lookout for some George T. Stagg, or William Larue Weller.

Opened a bottle of the Handy tonight and all I can say is "Wow"... It's hard to express in words the intensity of the burn and the explosion of cinnamon in your mouth. At 132 proof you knew it was coming. A few cubes of ice helped a bit but a few tablespoons of water really opened it up. As my first experience with Rye Whiskey I must say it's definitely different than traditional bourbons!

I still haven't made it to the store but I just opened a bottle of Jameson SR 12 to hold me over. I cannot complain
