Sounds like we need a tasting night

TA it was the Oloroso Tomatin that you got? Or one of them in that special lineup?

I'm interested as well. And as for the debate between bourbon and scotch, I don't think I'm qualified enough to have an opinion. I've tried a few good scotches but not nearly enough that I feel comfortable saying bourbon is always better than scotch. I have a Tomatin 18, probably the best bottle I own personally, it's tasty for sure but not as good as some of my bourbons.

It's really like comparing apples to oranges. They're distinctly different spirits with unique climates and distillation and such. I grew up on bourbon and Canadian whiskey so it's what is familiar to my palate and I always go back to it. With that being said, I've had some great single malts and even some good blends. Even scotch is such a broad category with differing styles around Scotland and differing techniques of finishing and such. I'm not a big peat fan and don't know if I'll ever get to that point, but I do enjoy the briny ones and most of the Highlands and Speysides. I've been drinking some old rums lately as well as old tequilas and they have great qualities too. I just enjoy good spirits

Changing subjects completely, is there anyone interested in doing a bourbon society fantasy league? We talked about it briefly at the event last Thursday. Just curious if anyone wants to give it a go. Shoot me an email at David@bourbonbr.com if you are.

Wife calls at lunch and says the pilot is sick so it looks like you are driving our daughter and her friends to Louisville Ky for the 5 Seconds of Summer concert.
Louisville, Liqour Barn, the Galt House Bar, sure.

Had this waiting in my room.

Don't think that is going to do it. So off to Jockey Silks Bourbon Bar for 20yr Pappy for $20.

So tonight I did a blind side-by-side-by-side with ETL, Blantons, and RHF. The verdict:

Nose:
1. ETL
2. Blantons
3. RHF

Palate:
1. ETL
2. Blantons
3. RHF

I was a little surprised the ETL beat out Blantons. I also correctly guessed all 3

ETL is definitely my choice between the 3.

If I could procure a few more it would become my nightly pour.
