Hey snooty drinker guys. I'm looking to get a really nice bottle of whiskey/bourbon/scotch as a wedding gift for a bro. Let's say $200-$300 ballpark.
I'm sure the answer is very subjective. I know he keeps a bottle of Makers 46 around the house for sipping. Maybe something of that style? I don't know shite about good liquor.
Any suggestions?

The problem is the really good stuff in that price range often doesn't hit the shelves.
I believe Dorignac's still has an Elijah Craig 21 or something comparable for about $200

Yes...basing this on makers mark only I would stick to a bourbon. I know many bourbon drinkers that do not venture into scotch etc.
Just a thought. ..what about amassing a lateral of EH Taylors. Small batch plus rye plus single barrel plus barrel proof. It would fit the price range and would build a great collection for him (I am leaving out the 3 tough to get EHT's of course).

Hm. That's a good idea. Any idea where I could find something along those lines around BR/NOLA?

How did you get the Willett SB bourbon? Been looking for that but seemed it was only sold in their gift shop...

You will have to hit a few stores probably but should be able to get all 4 between Calandros, Alexanders, etc... Dont know if anywhere will have all 4

Picked this up yesterday from a friends suggestion. I normally don't care for scotch very much but he said this is different, "French Whiskey". Anyone ever try it?
