Doesn't mean you eat with a trained mouth.

My point is anybody who thinks NOLA is in the same ballpark as NYC, Chicago, or SF, LA, is a shameless homer.

People go to NOLA for what the city offers that you can't get in NYC, Chicago, etc. What's hard about that to understand?

So are they all the best and therefore one should travel to nyc and only eat filipino food or is that result simply the result of SEO and Yelp?

Again if your premise is to be a great dining town you need hundreds of different ethnic restaurants, than yes New Orleans loses out. But then so does Paris, Tokyo, Barcelona, San Sebastien, Rome, Florence, Mexico City, etc...

It's an interesting debate which you touched on earlier: indigenous culinary identity versus breadth of ethnic options. Truly an apples to oranges comparison and most likely a foolhardy one. I choose to celebrate the whole culinary spectrum, from domestic to international, from high to low brow. Bon appetit!

Its a very interesting debate thaks for the back and forth. If you had 1,000 dollars to spend on food and boose (no hookers and blow) and 3 days but you have to stay in same city, where do you go?

I know the question wasn't directed at me but I'll answer anyway. NY, every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

ETA: assuming within the US

Does Bali count? I say that because you limit me to $1,000 which goes a long way there. $1,000 in NYC or Barcelona does not go far.

Good call. Did the same. Spend a few days on beach, kuta or similar and then spend some time in Ubud or rain forest. Four seasons if in your budget. Unreal property and place.

I'm headed to Barcelona next year and I've read a lot of your posts and you seem to know area well. Would like to pick your brain about it offline. Spent much time in San Sebastián?

Spent a few days in san sebastien but it was really before I knew of its greatness so I just sort of winged it. However, I have a roster of spots id be interested in scoping out if I make it back. Shoot me an email sn at gmail.

Doing a similar deal. Staying a few different spots on the island, Ubud being one of them for sure. We opted against the Four Seasons because there were other resorts that were very nice but a bit cheaper, which allowed us to get private villas at each spot. Had we done the Four Seasons we likely would have just gotten a regular room, which I'm sure is still nice.

Oh, and I would definitely put New Orleans in the top five, behind NY, SF, and Chicago.
