(Insert name of any random crappy/mediocre/maybe-sort-of-decent-at-best national chain establishment)

Why is this a constant source of fascination/anticipation among so many folks?

The day I see folks there getting 20% as excited for this happening, as they do for whatever random crappy chain might be opening, will be a rewarding day.

I think we need a Gordon Ramsay owned restaurant. Think he'll come to BR? Or at least NOLA?

when people from BR make a conscious and vocal decision to stop driving to NOLA to eat at these types of places and demand more of their own.

Olive Garden, when you're here, you're family.

They wouldn't drive to NOLA if there were better options in BR....the business comes first.

Exactly....I don't think there is an appreciation of finer foods yet in BR...the population of people like BigAIBR and andouillie's are out-numbered by the the mass of people that can be found on the rant during the day and Olive Garden at night.

When I was under 30 eating at a place with a huge national advertising budget was OK, now it sucks. That's OK, I really don't want backward-cap-wearing-sunglasses-on-head-football-jersey guy in my favorite restaurants anyway.

But testoterone inducing gimmicks like TDB get a lot of attention instead of small chef-owned places. Maybe our college town demographics scare them away, don't know.

Remember that most of this crowd is pretty young. How many comments do you get about a $5 slice of pizza or a $5 burger being outrageous? We have a pizza/burger, best buffet thread daily.

Trust me the majority of Baton Rougeons haven't heard of TigerDroppings.

true.

most of BR is like Metairie.

eta: "finer" foods are grossly overrated too, imo.

I am assuming that Old Metairie is not included in this.

"finer" foods doesn't have to be top notch fine dining...just better than olive garden and frying Everything.
