Why not? They fold all inside each other and are very easy to carry. I feel silly (don't worry, not enough to stop) when I bring the bags in for a small amount of items. When I get a lot of stuff is when I definitely want to have them.

If anyone wants to be on the front lines of the hipster cultural movement, then help me bring back bindles.

If you use them that much, you are undoubtedly an outlier

Good luck saving the world by yourself

I'll keep getting my free garbage bags at the grocery store

I guess that's a good point.

This information about the 100 times will cure me though. I'm pretty sure I'd lose many of them long before 100 uses.

As an aside, I've heard-no confirmation- that the hybrid technology is actually worse for the environment that regular engines.

Perhaps, but I'm not the only outlier in this situation.

Thank you. Although I sense there was a little sarcasm in that. Why does it have to be about saving the world? I've already stated they hold more, are more comfortable to carry and are easier to pack. Don't bring the rest of the world into this. The only world I am worried about is my own (seems like you are much the same way).

Don't be surprised when (eventually!) everyone will be moving away from plastic bags. That's just what it seems.

Pretty much every store has a recycle bin at the front doors, use it.

I don't doubt that at all. I just get annoyed from having too many stupid plastic bags.

I can't disagree. Let me be clear that my bathroom cans are lined with plastic bags as well. It's not always avoidable but I try to avoid it when I can.

I get plastic because we reuse them for trash bags and cat turds.

We have six or seven mesh bags the wife purchased in Mexico that we use to take groceries and such to the beach when we go to the condo.

Use plastic from grocer though. Oil field workers gott'a work too.

The following statement is 100% true and sincere:

The wife crochets really pretty bags out of reclaimed silk threads (from hobby lobby or some internet site). They fold up on themselves into a baseball sized shape that stores easily. They are quite pretty. Wann'a buy a few? She probably would sell you four or five for only $150.00 each, but you would be helping lots of people back down the chain of life and the environment and humanity, the arts movement, etc. She has done a few from cotton for her friends. As I understand, they have been very touched that she would do this for them. Your price on cotton would be $150.00 each.

She just finished a lovely painting of a house we saw in Honduras. It is NFS, but I could steal from her and sell to you for $2500.00. This would help no third world people, but maybe I should just forget that offer since it would likely very quickly trace back to me.

Wonderful that you use reusable bags. Most of us don't.

The extraction of "rare earth" metals is massive for a hybrid car industry to exist.

ETA It was reported a few years ago that Afghanistan is sitting on a massive treasure trove of ores throughout the nation, the extraction of it would make the living shithole one of the wealthiest nations on the planet.

MD - don't think I can afford $150.00/4, much less $150.00 for one. If she were to make something more affordable to me, I would be happy to buy one. Would I be able to carry groceries in them?

As a beginner crocheter, I can appreciate things being homemade

Eta Blame it on the vegan in me, but I'd have to do cotton, not silk.

I use plastic most of the time.. and I re-use the bags to bring lunch to work and other things. Also, they are what I use as a 'trash bag' in my car.

The $150.00 was sarcasm intended to keep orders to an = zero minimum.

Anytime anyone mentions reusable bags, her hand crocheted bags are what come to my mind.

I may have made a huge oops. As I think about them, they may be knitted on circular needles. I am certain about the reclaimed silk thread material, because the finished bag price still comes to mind when I see them. Not important - whatever they are they are beautiful works of textile art - and NFS. Also probably not really intended to carry fruit loops and Hormel Chili home from the A&P.

I figured as much. Wasn't sure if you were trying to mock me. Doesn't matter regardless
