Canned green beans. Soggy fried shrimp. Gumbo as thick as paste. Old dense stuffed potato. Horrible service from a waitress too young to probably be working.

Used to love this place a few years ago. Doubt I’ll go back. Was it a bad night or has Dempsey’s taken a turn? I notice no one here talk about it anymore.

I wanted Duang Tawan but they are closed for like two months.

Good deal.

Dear Dempsey’s Owner,
What’s the deal?

Always felt the poboys, fried seafood, crab cakes, gumbo, and seafood stuffed potato were good. If they're still the same, I'm sure I'll be back sometime in the future (haven't been in 2 years, sadly). I also liked the smothered chicken special.

I never really loved anything else, though not necessarily my preferred style of food. They've always used canned vegetables for the most part. I wasn't big on the jambalaya or the red beans. Don't really like the "cream of.." soup each day. Stuffed potatoes can't really be made to order, so you're stuck with a reheated potato pretty much anywhere you go.

Unless something has changed, I think the food is good but I definitely think it appeals more to an elderly audience. I'll be surprised if places like Dempseys, Brewbachers, Goodwood Grill, etc. are open 5-10 years from now.

I’ve always said it’s overrated and screams average... not a popular opinion here.

I like their daily specials and gumbo. For the prices, it is what it is. I will keep going back.

#MeToo

I have probably watched every gumbo cooked on YouTube. I have a few books dedicated to Gumbo. I cook it all the time.

I love it...but I have tasted some nasty gumbos.

Dempsey’s was my first intro to CFS, and still one of the best I’ve had (especially among Louisiana places).

Pretty sure they are only open on Fridays for the time being. Ate dinner there last Friday night.
