For its price, I actually think Rickey Jackson's is pretty damn good.

ETA, Anyone know who the producer of that is?

The best up here is Down Home brand, but I like to take a hog to Bellvue processing...it's hard to beat.

Elliot's Slaughter House in Morse, LA

It's the real deal fresh smoked sausage made with quality meat and a real smoker.

I actually heard the same thing about that sausage. Every time I see it, I think about that old commercial where you can (surprisingly) make him out to say "I'll have 57 cheeseburgers, 57 fries, oh, and a diet cold drink."

In southwest Louisiana, Rabideaux's is widely available in most grocery stores. I'm not sure why it's not in BR more. It's much better than the stuff produced around here, IMO. I stock up when I'm there.

yep. they bought the store about a year and a half ago. mom and pop from Reddell (well, Mamou). great people and can cook better than pretty much anyone i know.

it's worth the extra time for the trip.

apple stuffed pork chops.
