Any cookie made at home about two minutes old from the oven.

I don't eat cookies but I do recall that when I was in college I was asked to speak to an old ladies club. After the talk they served coffee and some kind of cookies. They were great. I asked what it was and they said "Tea Cakes."
I have no idea what tea cakes are and have never had them since. But I still remember how good they were.

My grandmothers oatmeal raisin was my favorite, now that she has passed, my mom's peanut butter cookies.

I wish I could find the recipe for the oatmeal/raisan cookies I grew up eating like crazy. The last time I made a batch the grandson of the woman who had provided tasted one. In a few seconds he said "there is no lemon in them" which was true as there were no lemons in the cupboard that day.

My grandmother didn't put any lemon in hers that I can recall.

I like a good homemade shortbread--the very crumbling, tender kind. Nancy Bagett's recipe for vanilla shortbread domes is damn near perfect, and you can whiz 'em together in the food processor.
1 1/2 cups AP flour
1/2 cup plus 1 T powdered sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 stick butter, cut into 1 T pats
2 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 T additional powdered sugar, for sprinkling
In a food processor, whiz together flour, sugar, & cornstarch. Add the butter chunks & the vanilla. Pulse until the mixture forms a soft dough & clings to the processor's blade (scrape the sides a couple of times if needed). Scoop into tablespoon sized mounds onto a foil or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 20 minutes, rotating pans halfway through for even browning. After removing from oven, sprinkle with a little powdered sugar while still warm.
Even better if you scrape the seeds from a vanilla bean into the dough, or substitute a couple T pecan meal for some of the flour.

I love those multi-colored-sugar cookies from Great American Cookie Company.

Teacakes are so very much a lost tradition it's kind of funny. The sugar content is very low, but the texture is the tits, and were the favorite of my long dead brother. The weekend days were for we little ones to learn the ideas of baking.

Yeah, I recall they looked like cookies but didn't have a lot of sweet. I've never had a sweet tooth. The texture was rich, not crumbly.

The perfect milk and cookie. Just hard enough so it won't fall apart, and soaks up the milk just right.
