What's the deal with "Moscow Mule" copper mugs?

Been seeing a lot of people drinking out of these and saying how great the drinks taste when you use one. Seems like a stupid trend. What's the OT think?

It's not that the mug makes it taste better. The drink traditionally served in it is what it tasty.

Not really a trend when the drink has been around since the early 1940s.....and was served in copper mugs back then. The copper mugs help keep the drink really cold, enhancing the taste of the drink.

Do you drink wine out of highballs? Every drink and glass has proper etiquette. Civilized people know this.

It's a good summer drink, but only if use the good ginger beer. (Smirnoff) The copper cup gives it a better taste, I guess.

I love them...tastes the best if they use alcoholic ginger beer imo.

Not just etiquette, wines-beers-cocktails have certain glass shapes designed for the particular drink that enhance the enjoyment of the libation. Especially with respect to getting the smell to the nose since that makes up a large part of taste. It's science.
BTW, I am not some Hipster that is into that stuff but I got roped into going to an even (free booze!) and learned this. It was actually interesting.

I have always seen a Moscow mule served in that. It is not some new thing.

When my wife had her GFs over for a pool party I whipped up some of those bad boys and had a copper cup for each of 'em.

All are served in that cup for tradition and apparently flavor enhancement. I have one and love them. I like to use the Not Your Fathers alcoholic ginger ale.

Pick up some Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka. Use that with the Ginger Beer and called it a Mississippi Mule. Excellent shite.
