The snow & sleet are really coming down now, only one thing to do-COOK! I've got some fresh pork backbone steaks, carrots, & potatoes that I'm gonna make a fricasse with, wish I had some turnips to go with that. What's on your menu for today?

Made a gumbo last night. It was good yesterday but should be better today.

Sweet potatoes will go in the oven closer to noontime.

Already have a pork loin I roasted a couple of days ago. Gonna defrost some veggie bisque or french onion soup to go with it. Haven't decided yet.

I have a bunch of country style pork ribs was gonna grill, but not in this cold. Was thinking about a jambalaya. Not sure what else I can do with these things.

Family took a vote on gumbo or beef stew. The stew won.

Did a chili last night and a ton of Rosemary chicken the night before. Also have a ton of leftover BBQ from lunch sunday. If my fridge wasn't full already I'd cook more.
I think my parents are cooking gumbo down the road. May go over and help out.

Re: shakshuka, it is damn tasty. I made a big batch of the tomato/pepper sauce and froze it in two serving size containers. Now I can nuke the portions and make it in about ten minutes. David Lebovitz's recipe is a decent starting point: LINK. IIRC, it has been on the brunch menu at Domenica.

Have a ton of leftovers.

Turkey pot pie with a cornbread crust that I made.

Also some penne pasta with tri colored peppers, garlic, mushrooms, broccoli and purple onion. Oh and with a little ground pork thrown in.

I may go grab some pho for lunch.
