I love bbq. but, where I come from, it's all about the rice dressing. if the rice dressing is shite, you can throw the rest of the shite away.

This 1000%

I've had both joint and nola recently and nola is better IMO. Both are great however. Went to nola last Saturday around 11 and walked right in and ordered.

Both are better than Houston BBQ

Yeah, 3 days a week. How about he opens up for normal hours.

why did he mention Tiger Droppings?

Rankings are subjective.
No one who had his ranked his low.
I'm confused.

NOLA Smokehouse's social media presence is pretty awful.

Lol I know.

He is one of the five reasons I changed my name. lol

Back like four or five years ago a friend of mine was really big into BBQ, and wanted to open a food truck and I was going to go in as a partner. He went out and got sauce from all the different places and we tried it.
I mentioned something, about hating the potato salad at Rob's place but loving everything else, and saying the sauce was good but not my favorite.
This dude Rob figured who I was talking about (since he only sold sauce to one guy) and started a Facebook tirade against my friend, making said friend think I was trash talking him on some site called "tigerdroppings".

I had tried to get a name change for years, but now armed with this tirade from some guy whose food I liked, I was granted a name change. (I always tell the story to make it seem like the name change was a must have, but in truth I used this altercation as a scapegoat and don't care if people know the old name.)

I said then like I say now. Rob Betchfold can BBQ like no other, but he doesn't have the right mind to run a business. He doesn't get social media and doesn't respond properly to people who don't love everything he does.

McClure's was the best in town when he only served a couple of hours a couple of days a week. It's different when you have a shop and run it lunch and dinner. The first two times I tried to get smokehouse he was out.

His meat is great, I LOVED it when he was in Fat City. I went there a lot in the two or three weeks they were open
But he gets mad over little critiques and he needs to just brush it off.
One reason why so many like the Joint is it's staying power. How many smaller BBQ shops opened and shite down in the last eight years?

His food is great, his bbq is legit, may even be the best.

I like your food. I just agreed with your former business partner at Buddha that your attitude would make it really hard for you to take off and be respected locally. Let the food speak, not the keyboard. You just got a great review from that "other" Napoleon. So let it be. Chill out. make that money.

FWIW.

When Rob opened up shop he started bashing all the other neighborhood restaurants. He made it sound like there wasn't any good place to eat in that part of uptown. Not the best way to make friends. Maybe if he wasn't such a dick and more friendly he would be opening up in that beautiful new tap room.

I want to go to the taproom tonight but over 3000 people have RSVPed yes on Facebook. If only 10% of that even shows up its going to be a giant mess.
