WalkOns is good because it has cold beer and some rando place

No, Walk Ons is good for what I use it for. A place to meet friends before the game. To share an app and have a drink. It's also a great place to pick up friends after the game. I'm just saying that the time I spend there is usually enjoyable and I have no complaints. Of course, I can have a good time just about anywhere because I'm a generally happy person. Your results may vary.

lawd no. There are like 40 taps and it is every style of BMC you can dream up, and I think the only "craft" taps are Stella, Shinerbock, Abita Octoberfest, SW 420 and SW blue

Starting to kind of get away from the food and more towards it being convenient for lsu games because of the location, which made it what it is today.

Put that original place on Essen and this thread doesn't exist today. Walkons would be that place that failed 10 years ago out by Essen

Reread the thread if you want to see the debate :)

The consensus was pretty much that it's not inedible, but it's not good, and the prices are not good.

I don't think anyone was arguing that they are miserable in WalkOns' atmosphere

Oh it's very much a convenience factor.

That being said, the food I eat there is good for our needs. We are a simple folk with simple needs though. The beer is cold. The bartenders are not. The apps I eat are good. The atmosphere is festive. Sounds to me like a recipe for success.

And fresh? You ordered regular beer on draft. It's as fresh as anywhere, I imagine.

You haven't been to Ivar's have you?

Hopefully the new owners will clean the lines more than every decade or so.

Dude the burgers there are absolute crap. Every time I have gotten one it has clearly sat for a while, bun gets soggy and holds the burger together like a wet paper towel.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but why do you feel the need to defend WalkOns so strongly here?

Because I think it is ridulous the amount of group think/blind cliche hate it gets. Yes, the specialty dishes suck there, and they shouldnt even bother putting it on the menu. But when people start complaining about a burger and sandwich, and then complaining about price(which was shown other places cost almost the same) it just becomes annoying. And it is Tuesday at work soooooo

I hate the bun and so do a bunch of others. I have had terrible experiences ordering it there as well as my friends. It sucks, get over it.

But I will go there for a few beers and cheese fries with the guys after a round of golf. And the view is spectacular at times. No one is saying its a shite hole.

Well this thread got started because the first response was a guy saying "nothing....seriously" when asked what was good. But anyway, it was a gentleman's argument. I will buy you a beer and burger for good times sake..................................................................................................................at Walk-ons

And I will gladly put the burger in a takeout box and bring it home to my dog. Although I doubt even he eats it.

People hate on success. Bring up raising cane's around here and watch what happens.

This is where most of the hatred started though, let's be honest.

While I agree they aren't bad by any stretch, if you truly don't know the difference between this and some of the best burgers in town, you should probably spend your time on another board. This is for foodies and beer mavens of course.
