Where does the tip in the app go? Restaurant or driver? Trying to figure out if I'm good to grab my food from the guy or if the top went to the restaurant or the driver.

I was always under the impression it went to the driver

It goes to the driver.

Note - if you use Waitr for carry out orders, don’t tip. It goes to Waitr, not the the restaurant employee if that was who you were trying to tip.

I always give the driver a few bucks just to make sure.

I've noticed recently that a number of restaurants have bumped up their prices 15% above their published menu price when ordering from Waitr. Essentially you're tipping twice. I've stopped ordering from restaurants that do this.

Was wondering about this Friday when the Waitr guy lingered at the door after handing me my order like he was expecting a tip. It was only the 2nd time I had used the service.

Wow, that’s pretty shitty of them to do when you’re already paying Waitr a $5 fee plus tipping the driver. If Waitr is costing you more than it’s worth as a restaurant, then just don’t be on it. Don’t screw the kid doing the work out of getting a tip. (Speaking to the restaurants doing this increase, not you the customer)

I use waitr a lot and haven’t noticed any price difference between regular menu and waitr menu.

I can't say enough how much I hate that the tip has to be given before the service is rendered

Fast food places don't do it. It seems to be confined to more upscale restaurants. It's easy to overlook.

Ive been screwed multiple times using either Waitr or Ubereats not getting things I’ve ordered or bad service. If I have cash on me, I tip upon delivery once I’ve verified my order is correct.

The last time I used them I think the fat delivery girl ate some of my food. She handed it to me and then hauled arse! Once I opened it I figured out why!

Does anyone know who is liable for the food? I imagine it is the driver, right?

Ordered Hooters on Waitr and they didn't include my side, plus the wings were completely unsauced (??). Hooters said that is to be taken up with Waitr. It wasn't worth it by that point.

Restaurants have to do this to profit. I have a buddy that told me Waitr takes their cut in the front and also charges the restaurant on the backside which explains the reason. They literally have to raise cost to ensure a decent profit I am not going to argue it sucks, but that is the reason. They take more than the five dollars they charge you they also charge the house a percentage.

Not true. The money goes to the server but the restaurant has to get it to them. If you know someone that has not gotten their tip then the restaurant is at fault

Their driver is supposed to check the order as they leave. It's essentially putting responsibility on the driver to check the order. What store did you order from? I can let the manager know to see if our bartenders are showing the order to the driver
