Very nice. Which ones do you recommend going to? I have a son going to school at RPI, and next time I go visit him, I plan on sneaking over the border and checking out some places.

For sheer selection you can't beat the Reservior and Prohibition Pig in Waterbury. They are located all of 150ft from each other.

My personal list of brews based on beer quality/variety..
1. Alchemist/Hill Farmstead
3. Lawson's Finest
4. Fiddlehead
5. Lost Nation
6. Zero Gravity
7. Four Quarters
8/9. Switchback or Magic Hat
10. Crop
11. Rock Art
12. Trapp

If you include Citizen Cider I'd drop it at #6..

Honestly, Rock Art is just awful. Trapp was equally terrible.

If including the location/food/etc at the brewery..

1. Lost Nation - great food
2. Fiddlehead - awesome pizzeria next door
3. Magic Hat - free samples of all the brews after the free tour. Several VT only brews like Big Hundo and Meat Whistle.

The beer lists were killing me, but when you threw in all the pork products I turned the color of a Jai Ale can

My dad took a trip just to get me some heady topper. Have two four packs in the fridge I'm rationing out.

Great beer.

Looks like you had fun, thanks for sharing.

Very solid. I am a little bummed that you did not hit up 3 Needs when you were in Burlington. It is probably my favorite dive bar/craft brewery of all time. $1 Duff's during afternoon episodes of the Simpsons until the keg was kicked, and the whole bar would go silent when the Simpsons was on.

I have heard that VPB has gone downhill over the last few years; just not as much love and care into their product as they used to have. It's a shame too because it is a nice location. Rock Art was only good for their Ridgerunner, and only because only a few brewers were making barleywine ales.

All in all, Hope you had a great time with some tasty suds.

3 Needs switched locations and no longer brews their own beers. I went and it's really nothing more than a dive bar so I didn't include it..

Very awesome trip man. As a few said, I was keeping up on Instagram.
If I could just go to one place I'd go to Prohibition for sure. That mac and cheese though!!

That's all? Please include flight schedules, room rates, public restroom locations, traffic patterns, and speed traps, also.

I'm not asking him to turn water into wine, just for specifics on his trip so that others (myself) can use his general outline in the future without having to research how to best navigate Vermont, a state that I literally know nothing about.

He went through the trouble of documenting every step of his trip by taking pictures and uploading them here, I think he can spend 5 minutes and explain the do's and dont's of travelling the various cities.

The nice thing about Vermont is that the state is so small and there are no large cities there. I think the largest city in Vermont (Burlington) is about the size of Monroe.

We stayed in South Burlington... This worked out well, but Waterbury/Stowe would be a good choice too.

Know what breweries you want to visit and when they are open. Many have odd hours and may be not be open every day. Plan in advance.

Many breweries cannot sell beers by the pint including HF. Typically they will do small 2oz pours for $1 or so each or even for free.

Some bars and breweries only take cash.

I got to HF about 90 mins before they opened the two times I visited there. They are open from 12-5. Be there by 11 or after 330 is my advice. You are going to stand in line for 2 or more hours at HF. Accept it now.

Everything is expensive be it food, gasoline, etc.

If you want Lawson's or Heady you need to be prepared to fight the lines.

Burlington and much of the Chittenden County area is terrific. Grew up in Madison and moved to Burlington for my high school years before heading back to Madison for college.

Church Street is such a fun, interesting, and weird place.

The University of Vermont is also a beautiful campus.

I found that the later in the week it got the longer the lines got. Waterbury and Stowe were ghost towns Monday-Wednesday we would walk in places and be the only people there.

We showed up at Alchemist on Tuesday around 11 and there were 3 other people. Hill Farmstead was the same on Wednesday.

People started rolling in Thursday evening and by Saturday there were lines everywhere we went.

ETA: The time of year you go matters too. The bartender at the prohibition pig told us that 'mud season' and September (between summer and leaf season) are their slowest times of the year.
