Going to Vegas for work. Half of our meals are planned, and half are not. Needs suggestions for one lunch and one dinner. Cost does not matter.

Can you narrow it down? Strip, off strip, cuisine, type of dining experience. If cost doesn't matter, you're in the right city.

Yes. Staying at the end of the strip. Someone suggested a high end place inside MGM. The planned meals will be catered by private chefs. I'm pretty sure one of their meals will be steak.

MGM puts me up for free so I usually stay there.

I will not go to Vegas without a visit to Kabuto. You'll need to take a taxi and it's off strip, but I would recommend it to anyone craving a true Japanese Edomae experience.

Where exactly will you be staying if you don't mind my asking? I know the South end of the strip fairly well.

You've got Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak, L'Atelier by Joel Robuchon (I'm guessing this is perhaps the place your friends mentioned) and Emeril are all represented there.

Staying at the four seasons. Yes. He did recommend L'Atelier. He specifically said to get the 8 course meal??? He said they would bring a ton of good food.

Have you tried Yui Edomae in Las Vegas? It opened in November and is run by Gen Mizoguchi who was a chef formerly at Kabuto.

Yup, it's a Chef's tasting menu and a meal to be remembered. Be forewarned that it's French cuisine and therefore will be heavily dairy based.

Mandalay Bay has a very good lunch buffet btw. I actually met Mohamed Ali and his wife at Mandalay Bay who was in Vegas at the time for Mike Tyson's hearing.

Nope. I haven't been to Vegas this year. I will check it out though. Thanks.

To the OP, if you're into pinball, take a quick bus ride down Tropicana to the Pinball Hall of Fame

My wife goes to a conference every year in Vegas so I tag along every other year or so because more than half our trip gets paid for by her vendors or her company. Though I gotten less and less enamored with Vegas, I have enjoyed some damn good meals there.

French and $$$$, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon was awesome.

Lunch with drinks, Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. Public House is solid too.

Italian I loved Scarpetta and their Fois Gras Ravioli.

Steak, I usually don't do steakhouses in Vegas because I have 2 or 3 great ones in Houston but Craftseak is damn good as is CUT. Haven't tried any place on the new strip besides those but on Fremont St is Hugo's Cellar which is awesome.

Japanese I like Kabuto.

Breakfast, Hash House is pretty good.

Someone took us to a Tapas place off the strip that I remember really liking but that was a precursor to one of my uglier nights I've had in Vegas so I'm not sure how much to recommend it. It was called Firefly but like I said, I'm not sure my memory is the clearest on this one.

There are plenty other options in each category but these I've enjoyed and don't think you could go wrong.

For dinner, check out Tao in the Venetian. Asian fusion. Some of the best nigiri I've had

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. We landed a job win Southwest Gas so I'll be in Vegas 4-5 more times this year. Would like to see other recs

I guess there was some pity for the inexplicable downvote for my recommendation in that Metairie Brunch thread. People could be giving out winning lottery numbers and more than one idiot will downvote because they don't like the font in the post or something. It really doesn't matter though.

Honestly, I didn't even read any responses before I made my post. We obviously have similar good taste and the Food Board should take heed.
