Don't get this place. Not worth the effort, dealing with the crowds and overpaying for a sandwich. I'd head to Stein's every day of the week instead.

Look, you can have your issues with it, but the lines at both places are probably exactly the same. And the prices are probably pretty close as well. So find another straw man.

ETA: I love Steins also.

The crowds are the same and I've always waited longer at Stein's, to be honest.

They are very different places. Stein's is awesome. I personally like T&W a bit better, but that's just a personal preference towards less traditional fare.

I can certainly understand it. Some people want a very traditional sandwich made well. I get that and I like Stein's too.

My personal preference is something a little more bold, so I tend to really like T&W, but everyone has their preferences.

I agree everyone has their likes.

That said, with all the love I am going to give T&W another shot next week.

Steins is no doubt more expensive and much more traditional. Much harder to get in and out of Stein's. I can get a bigger more inovative meal from T&W for the same price in a much more convienent manner than having to deal with the cheese dicks standing around out front of Stein's blocking the only picnic table.

I like Steins too but you pay like $13 something for a smaller sandwich compared to what you get at T&W

We went there Friday. I got the lambneck roti, which was great, my wife got the collard green melt, which was nice, and we split a wedge salad, which was really good and huge. It wasn't too crowded - we were there around noon and snagged a table. It wasn't cheap, but it was kind of in line for what you get with that sort of sandwich - I didn't feel ripped off like I do when I go to Panera Bread. Of course, we made a special trip to New Orleans and this was where I wanted to eat, so it wasn't like we ran over there on a random day for lunch.

I don't get who they are paying off for this kind of publicity.

Every time discussion about BR restaurants is happening here, I bring up how important social media is. Their "gourmet" stoner schtick combined with saying whatever the hell they want on social media earned them thousands of followers. Really, a cult following.

I have a huge hard-on for Turkey and the Wolf, and I'm so happy for them, but I agree that I'd have a hard time calling it the best restaurant in the entire country. Plus, that's kindof a vague award when you're not differentiating high end from a sandwich counter The food I had when Mason was at Coquette was certainly not some degree "worse" than T&tW and that's just another restaurant in the same city. Now extend that to the whole country? Nah.
