I haven't had pizza delivered in years. By time I paid for the pie, the delivery charge, and the tip, I could have eaten far better than a fast food pizza.

If I'm dying for a pizza and am too lazy to make one myself, I pick it up. That said, I live in the middle of Baton Rouge, so it's not exactly a trek for me.

$6 or $7.

I honestly don't understand cheapskates when it comes to tipping. A couple of extra bucks in a lot of situations can do wonders.

I always tip $2 on carry out orders. $5 for deliveries.

Usually about $8, because I pay with a 20 and tell them to keep the change. I always get my pizza fast, though.

Someone is going to have to explain tipping on a small carry out order to me.

If the kid could afford a car with a gps, do you think that he would be delivering pizza? I always give a generous tip because most of these kids are probably working their way through college.

Someone is packing it and getting it ready for you. Do you go to the same place often? Do you see the same person giving you your food often? Does a couple of bucks here and there to build some good will really hurt?

I delivered for Papa John's all through college... back then I was paid minimum wage and we got a small amount (I think $.75) per delivery in gas money. There was no delivery fee at the time.

A $5 tip would be one of the best of the night, the average was more like $2. Back then most people wrote checks, and a lot would already have it written out for the exact amount, no tip... assholes! While I was there the online ordering started, but wasn't very popular. And every now and then someone would pay by card over the phone but it also wasn't very common.
