Tip your god damned servers.

If they do their job I tip.

If they are even halfway competent, pleasant and I can tell they care, I tip.

If they do a shitty job or if they are anything but pleasant they get ZERO.

I'll still give them something for several reasons.

I'm basically contracting them to be my liaison between myself and the chef/kitchen.
I don't know what is going on in their personal life which may contribute to my assumptions of their "care" of me.
We all have bad days.

Ok, sooo, how do yalls entitled asses get your food? Is it suppose to magically appear at your table with your drinks fixed? You dont think somebody waiting on your every need from mayonnaise to food, deserves a tip? I don't wait tables, but I do tip because I realize they deserve it and I'm not entitled to somebody waiting on my every need.

Let me know when you have the option to get your food yourself. I'm perfectly happy to and capable of pouring my own water too.

IMO it's a minimum wage job and you should tip accordingly.

If you like the vast majority of service you receive here in the states, you should support tips. Otherwise you will eventually have service like in Europe where it takes half the meal before they get you your water, and where they never check up on you, and never grab what you need.

Eta. I didn't serve tables. I listened to a friend's kid bitch about serving at chiles for 2 months before he walked out of the store during a shift because of an African American table that was driving him insane.

Change fricking jobs if you don't like it

I always love that response from someone pontificating on a keyboard. A lot of people have to take jobs in the service industry. Why do some people dislike such a simple thing as leaving a gratuity for a server in a restaurant? It's baffling.
