I had their roast pork w/ macaroni lunch special, and I was quite impressed.

I had that as well yesterday. It was great! and for 7.95 you can't beat it.

I love the chimes. I do have an emotional attachment to it as stated on this board. But for an establishment to make this attachment with so many, doesn't that also speak to how good the place is?

i think the chimes is overrated (the beer selection isn't thatgreat) and its overpriced.

i like their food, though, and its always a good atmosphere.

the blackened salmon sandwich is freaking amazing. probably my fave sammich in br.

They do a great job of rotating in new stuff as much as possible.

They don't have as many taps at the Bulldog, but I'm probably more likely to find something new and good at The Chimes.

That's how I feel at least.

Overrated... yeah, maybe, considering how highly a lot of people regard the place, but I'll still hit it up plenty.

This is basically what I was saying. Its good food. I dont personally think its great and I would take an out-of-stater tp Parrains or Louisiana Lagniappe first. But Chimes has its place.. I often eat at East if there is a ton of traffic on Coursey.

I like both Chimes for good beer and food. Outside of the beer, some of my favorites:

duck and andouille gumbo
crawfish etouffe'
fried crabclaws
crabmeat stuffed mushrooms
fried alligator
mozarella sticks
onion rings

If the electricty went out, it's not the restaurant's fault. Maybe you might want to give them another try. I've been to Mandeville, and Chimes has an upper hand on more than 80% of the places there.

I dont think he is blaming the place for the electricity going out its the fact that they would not let them leave. Thats some BS right there. Its not the patrons fault the electricity went out and they may have plans and have to be somewhere.

I think is it more of a consistently good place. Not the best food but it is always good.

it does seem there isn't much of a middle ground with Chimes. people either love it or hate it. i really like the place. great atmosphere, excellent beer selection, and i've never had a bad meal. i've only had one incident of bad service in the 10 + years of going there.

seems like lots of people don't like it because it is so popular. of course, part of my love of the place is based on nostalgia; my wife and i spent many a night there when we were dating as undergrads. it was easily our favorite hang out.

The brunch at the Chimes is awesome. The food is decent, service usually is subpar. Better than Walk-ons except for the fried alligator. I wish they would do something different with the menu at Chimes.
