So you're a vinegerette guy?
I have different moods mostly vinegerette but I have a place for a thin ranch, remoulade, bleu cheese.
Have never been a fan of Russian and haven't had 1000 Island since I was about ten. Hell I know now today I'll buy a damn bottle of 1000 Island for a memory. It will probably be a bad one. Better do it now while my family is out of town.

Chuy's Jalapeno Ranch
1 cup real mayonnaise
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup sour cream
1-4 oz. can chopped jalapeños (cut this in half if you don't like spicy)
1-4 oz. can chopped green chiles
1/3 cup chopped cilantro
1-1 oz. packet of dry ranch dressing mix
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
Blend up and let it sit in fridge a few hours before serving.

The Chipolte Ranch from Voodoo BBQ is the best ranch that I have ever had.

I made my post last night when I was about to leave for Carl's Jr to get their big breast filet sandwich with NO MAYONNAISE. I put Ken's steakhouse ranch on chicken sandwiches and it makes them a lot better. I think this started when I got a Wendy's asiago ranch chicken club one day.
It's so good on chicken sandwiches I may try it on Popeye's spicy chicken next time I go there.
Other than chicken sandwiches and salads I use it for dipping - hot wings and pizza. I've never done it but I know people who eat ranch dressing on fries. Carl's Jr now has bacon ranch fries that look pretty good.

Ranch ruins a salad
Should be for veggies and wings only
French onion is better anyways

+1. It took me about a dozen tries and several different *alleged* recipes before getting a spot on copycat. That stuff is legit

The peppercorn ranch at Copeland's might be the best I've had.
Bash away, but I think the ranch they give you at McDonald's is pretty good.

I prefer ranch for dipping as well, but I can tolerate it on a salad if it's on a salad I'm served.
If I'm going the non-vinaigrette path, it's honey mustard or a bleu cheese wedge all the way.
Honey mustard is more of a dipping condiment for me too, though.
* Referring to homemade here. I've yet to find a ranch in a bottle that isn't unpalatable.

Damn. I always thought Chuy's was just a store-bought ranch with jalepeno chili powder stirred in.
