LINK

How many have you eaten at? I've eaten at:

LaBarbecue (Austin, TX) - best brisket I've ever had
Pecan Lodge (Dallas, TX) - great and would be even better if they replaced mesquite w/ post oak
Blacks (Lockhart, TX) - Kreuz isn't far behind
Killens (Pearland, TX) - very good but lots of pepper. I would've replaced it on the list with Corkscrew (old town Spring, TX)

For those who've eaten at the TX, Memphis, and KC joints, how does the Memphis/KC BBQ compare to TX?

Out of the ones I have been to, Big Bob Gibson's absolutely does not belong anywhere near that list. That place is meh at best.

I had lunch at one of them today. (The Joint)

Of that list the best I had was Joe's (formally Oklahoma Joe's)

I have also had Black's, Franklin and Mueller's (all three in or near Austin)

Cozy Corner I went to with my mom but I can't remember really loving it, though she enjoyed it.

without even looking at the contents, this board should have a ban on all Thrillist posts. No way the authors of that crap have ever eaten at these places. Not to mention you have to sign in to read it, if you want to subject yourself to it.

What? I just clicked on a link and ta-da!

As for the TX joints on it they were in general agreement with other such lists. I have no idea about those in other states.

I've been to B's Cracklin BBQ in Sav. I recall it being good. Not fantastic.

Lists like these are fun and stupid at the same time.

That is because this list is based on those other lists. Virtually everyone of those personal anecdotes are bullshite.

Thats the first BBQ list I saw that didn't have Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse at or near the top. They didn't even have them on the list. Still the best BBQ I have eaten so far.

I've had Saws (very good), Big Bob's (average and probably only made the list because it's where white sauce was created), and Central in Memphis (was very disappointed).

I have been to Blacks in Lockhart and Blacks is still the best that I have found. Was planning on trying out the Salt Lick in Round Rock this year but my trip got postponed.

We did the Gospel BBQ Bruch at Stubbs in Austin last year. It was good but not Blacks good.

These lists are just garbage clickbait. Nothing more.

The Joint is a decent BBQ place for N.O., but is nowhere close to being top 50 in the country.

I never really see much of a discrepancy in perceived "great" BBQ places and a place like the joint. The main difference is the sauces, to me

BBQ places are like steakhouses to me. I don't get too excited about things easily done at home
