Have some free time today so I'm making a boudin run, based on responses in the recent "Best Boudin You've Ever Had" thread. In my opinion, the best way to do this is through a blind taste test, so that there's no preconceived bias. So basically, I sample different boudins, without knowing whose is whose, and then after I've tasted them all and declared an overall "best" my wife reveals where it's from. Here is the list of places I'll be visiting today:

Bergerons (Port Allen)
Kartchners (Krotz Springs)
Billy's (Krotz Springs)
Bourque's (Port Barre)
T-Boys (Mamou)
Billeaud's (Broussard)
Menard's (Duson)
Teet's (Ville Platte)
T-Jim's (Cottonport)
Earl's (Lafayette)
Best Stop (Scott)
Nunu's (Youngsville)
Janise's (Sunset)
Poche's (Breaux Bridge)

...and possibly some others, as well.

This will obviously be very time-consuming, but I really want to make this one of the best threads in FDB history, so please bear with me as I get all of the photos and everything else organized. Let the games begin!

I'd have to disagree. The blood boudin at T-Jim's is far better... and that's coming from a Nicholls grad.

to fighting the good fight and for nether teams to have an injury today, that being said, Hotty Toddy

This a noble cause and I applaud you. I'll be eating boudin from Menard's this afternoon.

A well deserved up vote if you can pull this off.

FYI The Boudin Cook Off is being held in Parc Sans Souci in Lafayette today. Can sample a lot of these you listed and others there. Great event!

I'm on my way there now after leaving Best Stop. A few of the samples I'm getting, from places that are a little out of the way, will be from there.

Rabideaux's is a little too far. I've had it several times in the past, though.

That's a lot of stops to make in one day. I would have started much earlier because some of the smaller stores may run out of boudin later in the day.

It will be a great day nonetheless

We did a similar run with Boudin For Peace many years ago.

Looking forward to your pics and reviews!

While in Breaux Bridge, get you some Charlie T's. It's better than Poches.

This an awesome thread that I will be following for sure, but it is blowing my mind that you didn't (and no one else) mention Dons. I'm not necessarily saying they have the best or anything but they are always in the conversation.

Typically I choose boudin based on association more than taste. I went to ULL so I have always been partial to Best Stop.

I'll swing by Dons on my way out, though I've never really cared for it. I also happened to pass Chops in Broussard, so I stopped there. I'll also stop by the other place in Breaux Bridge that was mentioned. About to pull in to Parc Sans Souci -- made a detour to Nunu's -- got some fresh pork/strawberry sausage as well as some Steens sausage

Finally on the home stretch. Just left Charlie T's, headed to Poches, then home.

Already went there -- got TJims, TBoys, Earls, Menard's, and Teets from there.

Also had a sample of the blood boudin from T-Jim's, which is one of my all-time favorites.

Ok so I just did my first round of taste-testing of 17 samples and have narrowed it down to my top 3. I'm not revealing them until I'm finished. There was also one which stood out as being downright bad... very strong and overpowering and not in a good way. I couldn't believe it when I saw who it was: T-Boys.

Here are some early photos:

...And to the haters who keep downvoting, please continue. Your tears taste sweeter than the nectar of the gods.
