Mirliton dressing is the only side that is an absolute must for me. If one Thanksgiving my mom ever decides to not make it I'm going to flip everyone off, kick over the table, and take my arse to a Chinese restaurant.

That looks delicious.

Fresh green beans with bacon & new potatoes are also very good.

I was talking about the so-called casseroles with canned plastic green beans with kindergarten paste.

Oyster dressing is the most coveted side dish at my family get together's by a long shot.

All I need is some fried turkey, oyster dressing/pie, some Mississippi mud. and Bourbon and you can keep the rest.

Spinach Madeleine is one side we always have with thanksgiving at our house. I think it's from the river road recipes cookbook

Curried Cauliflower

Is good by itself. Like a combination of Domenica's roasted cauliflower and Shaya's curried version. There are recipies out there.

Love seeing all these sides that would never occur to me to cook in mid-Missouri. Here's one that is a staple in our neck of the woods at every holiday meal...typically cooked by someone's grandma:

Homemade Noodles
