My husband & I went to our first LSU game over Thanksgiving & it was awesome. We are from So Cal (me originally & he from Ohio) & had no idea what to expect. We are Ohio St fans & have tailgated there, but nothing compared to LSU. Even though it was an afternoon game, against a not so good team, we had a blast. I had asked for some bar & dining suggestions on this board & your suggestions were right on. Thanks to everyone who gave me great feedback

Where did you end up dining and how was the tailgating food?

We went to Chimes, Walk Ons, Schlitz & Giggles & Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar (the last 2 were just due to location & too many cocktails!) We saw more than 1 person cooking an entire pig in a box on campus. We tried gumbo & alligator sausage for the first time. (Tried grits too, but not a fan!) Also, had Cain's & some crab cakes from some place that started with an "M". Too many drinks to count. We had a reservation at Stroubes but never made it because we were hopping around the bars downtown like Roux House & Thibodeax & Happys! All in all, what an amazing time.

Well I'm sure the BR bashes will be here soon but it's good to see you had a great time. What was the reason for the visit? I guess I mean we aren't exactly a tourist destination.

Martini- The reason for the visit was just to go to the game. Each Thanksgiving we pick a rivalry type game & this yr it was LSU. I know Arkansas sucked this yr, but it is still fun to see how each school tailgates. We had been hoping for a night game in Death Valley. We have also been to Alabama, S. Carolina & Ole Miss & they all tailgate differently. Each year I say "this can't be better than last year" and each yr it is. For sure LSU is my favorite so far! Thinking about FL State for next yr (we are sticking with the south since it is warmer down there. Although it was 77 degrees in So Cal this Thanksgiving)

Finally, Ole Miss and the "Grove" suck. Auburn and the oak trees suck worse.
PS: The "box" he was cooking the whole pig in is called a "Cajun Microwave".

A&M and LSU will be in College Station Thanksgiving day next year. FYI.
Other good home games would be:
at Clempson (vs USCe)
at UGA (vs. GaTech)-Athens is great.

I agree with this. Been to many values and Athens is beautiful and a good time.
Glad you enjoyed Baton Rouge!

Thanks for reporting back about your trip, hopefully as was stated earlier getting to do a night game is a must to do event sooner than later.

Dang you guys are rough!
They packed more into a weekend than I would have thought possible.

Clemson would not even get close to holding a candle to Tiger Stadium. Just Google images of the town for fun. It has two main thoroughfares that meet in a tee. The first parallels the campus, the second perpindicular to it. the Population is 15K for the city, and 17K students. The "big" place to "party at is an old gas station known as the Esso club. Yeehaw lets inhale some benzene fumes. Driving away in a truck was a very good sensation.
