Seems like the parking situation there has always been a mess. But, I think someone may have made an opening in the fence between Dempsey's and Wal-Mart.
Too bad that wasn't an option at the Jefferson Hwy location.

Someone on this website said years ago that they think Dempsey's has the best fry kitchen in the city. Bias aside, I can agree with that. I'm an oyster girl, but I like the catfish plenty too.

At Sammy's, my chicken fried steak and fried oysters taste exactly the same. That's weird (and not good) to me.

Would do if I still was in college.

No more service industry for me beyond the occasional guest bartending shift on weekends :/ Real world for the past couple years.

I stopped for a cup and a half today b/c of this thread. Got seafood gumbo and the "roast beef/cheese/fried shrimp po boy". Both were excellent.

How many times can "cup and a half" be mentioned?

I didn't realize you had left the service industry. I still consider you the resident expert on the subject

Dempseys had my favorite fried catfish in BR

I keep forgetting about the one in P-Ville and go to the one on Coursey. I don't do Dempsey's near as much as I used to. They do a pretty good job with most of their menu.

Between this and the poboy that's roast beef and fried shrimp, Dempsey's has obviously changed up their menu since I went 2 months ago.

Unless these were specials. Which if you're referring to the "Messy Burger" special with the mornay sauce on it... I know that sucker is good but it's like 2000 calories

The girl at the bar said they did recently. I noticed they don't serve fries anymore with the cup and a half.

Fries are one of the great foods that even when they suck, they're good. They're fries.

They have actually improved. I'd suggest going back in and ordering some fries while dining in.

Then if you still say they suck, I'll rest my case.
