Tell me about Dempsey's in Prairieville

I just noticed the other day that they have a location in the old Rocco's spot by the WalMart. I've heard good things about the Baton Rouge location.
What can I expect here? Always looking for a good take out spot near the house. What's good there?

Have only been a couple times. Not much difference from Rocco's.

I actually miss Rocco's. Their veal cutlet poboy with red gravy and provolone was on point.

Monday - Get the Red Bean/Chx special. Two whole fried breasts and 3 cups of red beans. Unreal.
Tues special blows. If you go that day, just order cup and a half. Chx or seafood gumbo with half a poboy. Oyster is the obvious poboy choice.
Wed - CFS. Duh. WIth mashed pot and green beans.
Thurs - THE BEST SPECIAL EVER ------ SMO!!!!!! SMOTHERED CHICKEN WITH LIMAS. holy god kill yourself for this
Weekend - who cares? order off the poboy menu and get gumbo
Any day: Seafood stuffed potato if you want 40438535829 calories of good.

I love the Dempsey's in Baton Rouge, I've been to the one in Prairieville twice. I don't who/what they do differently in Prairieville, but it's awful.

Don't go to On The Half Shell then, we went yesterday and was reminded why I never go there. The food is absolutely horrible.
My mom ordered the grill shrimp platter, it had (5) shrimp
I had blackened catfish with étouffée on top, it came out luke warm. The étouffée was red (ketchup color), even the side salad was bad.

Wife likes it. Like Dempsey's in BR the specials are where it's at. Family oriented atmosphere.

I find this for both On the Half Shell and Tommy's Fish house. Everytime I'm forced to go to one of the two, I always end up thinking, "Damn I could have had similar food, only cooked better, for a cheaper price, at Sammy's."
I do like Dempsey's for lunch. Cup n a half is the tits.

The only reason we went to Half Shell was b/c Sammy's was closed, they had all the tables and kitchen equipment in the parking lot completely cleaning the place

I've only been to the one in BR near Town Center. I've never seen more obscenely obese people in such a small space in my life. Every single person except me, the girl I was with and some of the staff were huge and fat. Chowing down on mounds of fried food.

Glass, there's an unwritten rule that if you follow the fat people, you'll find good food...maybe not food you need to eat seven days a week, but good food. Fried stuff and gravy is good.

I don't buy that, just like the myth that cops go to places where there is good food.

Seems like the parking situation there has always been a mess. But, I think someone may have made an opening in the fence between Dempsey's and Wal-Mart.
