Never cared for the name, but I don't think that's why it closed.

Never really saw BR as the right market for a farm to table restaurant.

location didn't help. Has to expensive to rent out that place and it is pretty damn big. They always had a lot of tables empty every time I went there. Food was good though

I Think Magpie is good example of how hipsterish restaurant needs to establish itself before expanding in Baton Rouge.

I don't think the concept is what made Table fail. They did zero to market or establish themselves, and they didn't execute their food all that well. Combine that with an iffy location, and it isn't surprising they didn't make it.

Look at the new Kalurah Street. Place is barely a month old, and is all over local publications. They have someone in charge of marketing who has done an outstanding job of hyping the place up. Plus the food is awesome. Table didn't even have a working website for their first few months open.

Part of it too, I think, was falling down on the crucial element of supporting its chefs and promoting the chef to the community. Instead they kept quietly firing their chefs. Then they cared more about shilling their burger night and Michelob than any kind of farm-to-table element or chef creativity.

I blame it more on the food being average at best. Though i went there only once, so maybe that's an unfair assessment, but everything i had there was extremely underwhelming and some of it was just flat out bad.

I never heard any buzz about that place. None of my friends ever mentioned going there, nothing popped up about it on Facebook or Twitter, never saw much talk about it on this site.

burger night

Tried to go twice on "burger night" and they were out of burgers both times. And this was early evening, no later than 6:30pm. After the second time I refused to go back

Went last week, the food was excellent, but services was really slow. I don't blame the kitchen though, our waitress was the sort of person for whom the expression "bless her heart" was invented. Will almost certainly be back at some point, and even if Table had not closed, I wouldn't have said the same thing.

Tried to call and order burgers to go this Tuesday and no one answered....I guess they were closed.

Never went. Heard the only thing that was good was the burger. But at $20 I can see why they went out of business.

Donnie Jarreau should have never forced out Southdowns Lounge. No business has succeeded there since.

Just bring back Marcellos, they were doing well there. If I remember correctly he was offered a good amount of money not to move out there.
